Machamp > Blissey
Dragonite > Snorlax
Vaporeon > Tyranitar
Dewgong > Dragonite
Vaporeon > Rhydon
Raichu > Gyarados
Jolteon > Vaporeon

That's who I use, but open to any gym pointers tho. ?

They are all good, but if I can give alternatives to choose from...

Machamp > Snorlax as well as Blissey
Piloswine OR Cloyster > Dragonite
Tangela > Rhydon and Vape
Lanturn > Gyarados

Best all rounder goes to Wiggly

EDIT Kangaskhan is good against Snorlax, but that is not for everyone. (LowKick with anything)

  • Drag's faster than Champ, per Snorlax.
  • Dew is tankier than Cloy, per Drag.
  • I don't like Tangela, at all, ?
  • Lanturn is too slow, per Gyarados.
  • Wiggly I'm holding for PvP, that's who I'm gonna smoke Trainers with!

I can't get Kang, not yet anyway.

Thanks.

Drag is not an option for me...

...but wait until you get to box with a kanga. FUN!

I read good things about him, battled him a few times as well. Isn't he the best regional or does Hera take that claim now? Maybe him on defense, and Hera on offense.

What makes Dragonite a beast is the high attack with good moves. But when you are prestiging with low CP you arent taking advantage of that high attack as much. So for prestiging, I tend to value bulk/hp a little more. So for Snorlax really anything works, but I tend to use Vaperon, or sometimes Exeggutor.

As for Vaporeon, Jolteon does SE but has no resistance. As such I tend to use Grass Types. Eggy, Venus, and Tangela depending on CP.

You can also throw in Lanturn (who is also great for Gyrados) if you happen to get double electic

Charge Beam is so slow (and boring too), his HP saves him. I just like how Raichu goes in w Spark, and those Wild Charges, ???

Here's what I think performs the best, based on my experience.

  • Snorlax: Sudowoodo, Primeape, Kabutops, any of the Hitmons.
  • Dragonite: Dewgong, Jynx, Wigglytuff, Azumarill, Clefable.
  • Gyarados: Electrode, Magneton, Electabuzz, Raichu, Lanturn.
  • Vaporeon: Tangela, Exeggutor, Ivysaur, Lanturn, Victreebel, Vileplume.
  • Rhydon: Golduck, Vaporeon, Blastoise, Tangela, Exeggutor.
  • Tyranitar: Poliwrath, Primeape, Vaporeon, Golduck, Blastoise, Azumarill, any of the Hitmons.
  • Exeggutor: Parasect, Pinsir, Scyther, Butterfree, Ledian, Houndoom, Umbreon.

Best generalists: Wigglytuff, Vaporeon, Raticate, Pidgeot, Noctowl, Furret.

Edit: I left out Blissey because against her I have to use attackers with higher CP than my usual prestigers. Anything with really high DPS is good against her - I personally prefer Espeon, Alakazam or some Fighting types.

If Drag has SW against your Wiggly tho, ? ...and if you don't dodge for your life with Golduck, lol. And chill Azumarill for Ty' is suppose to be a secret, lol. ?

Wiggly is so tanky that even SW doesn't worry her one bit - it lacks STAB anyway, so it's not that big of a deal.

Golduck is actually pretty bulky as well, and dodging isn't a problem because he's so fast! Have you tried him out? There are way more fragile mons in my list.

How strong are the Dragonites and Rhydon's you prestiging against?

I keep a wide variety of prestigers at all CP ranges, so I always pick the ones with about half the defenders' CP. Dragonites and Rhydons in my area are usually 2800+.

To give you an example, the other day I wanted to take down a gym with a 3200 Dragonite with SW+DC on top, and didn't have potions for my trustworthy Ice attackers. So I picked my best Wigglytuff (1507 CP, Pound+Play Rough), and she was so impressive. She kicked the dragon's butt with even a fair chunk of HP left.

She's great, I just have my heart set on her for PvP, so for now I like whoopin' on 3k Dragons with 1200 Dewgong's. ?

Why do you think she'll be good in PvP?

Machamp > Blissey = 100 - 500 pres
kingler/crobat > Snorlax = 1000 pres
Clefable/jolteon/wigglytuff > Dragonite= 500-1000 pres
venusaur > Vaporeon
venusaur/poliwrath/veporeon(low cp) > Rhydon / Tyranitar
Bonus for 1000 prestage blissey :
6 paras(solar beam) > blissey

  1. Fight
    Machamp C/DP or CC
    Primeape C/CC
    Poliwrath RS/DP
  2. Ice
    Piloswine PS/A
    Cloyster FB/A
    Lapras FB/IB or B
  3. Electric
    Lanturn CB/TB
    Ampharos CB/ZC
  4. Grass
    Meganium VW or RL/SoB
    Venusaur VW or RL/SoB
    Bellossom RL/LB
  5. Water
    Lanturn WG/HP
    Politoed B/HP
    Poliwrath B/HP

That covers the big ones (Tyranitar, Dragonite, Snorlax, Rhydon, Gyarados, Blissey, Vaporeon). Can easily go for 1000 prestige against all, expect big Blisseys, with any of these prestigers taking advantage of weaknesses.

Honorable mention: Sudowoodo RT/RS
He's so fucking adorable. <3

Some of you are banking a little too much on HP, and not on dps; I get HP protects lower CP on prestiging, but dps gets them out of there faster so you don't compromise as much HP, and still get your 1k.

Lanturn w CB is just sobslow for me, Raichu and Jolty are faster. And Wiggly is great, but if Dragonite has SW, that's an issue, even w her high HP.

Maybe I'm just so used to playing around so many spoofers/snipers, I gotta get the gym up as soon as possible. It's that bad. ?

I aim to get 6k+ prestige in a go, so my prestigers need to be reliable and be able to take out more than one defender some times. Less screen time, less time wasted selecting teams.

Lanturn can take out two Gyarados with double his CP and damage a third mon for example.

Understood.

Again, if you never played w spoofers attacking the gym every minute, then you may not understand. I need to get what I need, and get out, too much time spent will risk what I'm doing. I've battled in places w no spoofers, and the gym vibe and what you can do are different, in a good way.

Same here in regards to speed. Sometimes I just quit powering the gym up now a days. We have zero chance of collecting anyways. I'm hoping that they start offering some kind of increased reward for taking down a gym in the shake up.

It is really interesting how Starmie never gets featured in these lists. With WG/HP she is a powerful and potion efficient prestiger in particular against snorlax, whose zh she resists. One of the few mons with which i manage to single-handedly prestige 1000 points out of a snorlax. If you haven't tried her against snorlax yet, you really should. Prepare to be awed.

I'm all about potion efficiency when it comes to training so I tend to favor high attack/defense and low hp prestigers. P.S. Really surprised no one's mentioned Forettress. I use it all the time versus Snorlax/Espeon/Exeggutor/Alakazam

  • Tangela (VW/PW)
  • Forretress (BB/HS)
  • Skarmory (SW/SA)
  • Cloyster (FB/A)
  • Starmie (WG/HP)
  • Raichu (S/WC)
  • Primeape (C/CC)
  • Xatu (AS/FS)
  • Sudowoodo (RT/SE)
  • Marowak (MS/EQ)
  • Ninetales (FS/OH)
