Decided to evolve my 100% Magikarp

I got a feeling that Gyarados = (Dragonite + Tyranitar)/2
You see, he can learn DT/O and B/CR, both of which are considered one of the best moves of Dnite and T-Rex respectively.

Use it as a prestiger vs Espeon or Eggy if it is at low enough CP. Other than that there is no real use for it, feel sry for you mate :/

Is it THAT bad though? It is still a 100% Gyarados that will have very high cp if you power him up. The moveset is still a "C"-rated moveset, not D or F.

I just got DT/C which is a B-rated moveset and I am definitely powering him up, even if he is just 83% IV (after all this magikarp hunting during this event 83% was the best I could find).

Just max him out and stick him high up in a gym. Garry's moves aren't going to deter anyone from ousting him anyhow.

Is there a positive correlation between high IVs and shitty moves? Sure feels like it based on my personal experience!

caught close to 500 karps since event start, best one was a 98% but only level 18 - evolved and got the same Bite/Crunch ah well still have over 3000+ candies for the next 96%+ karp....still haven't got a Shiny though

Disregarding the letter ranking it gets on this website and considering real-world use, Bite + Crunch is an excellent attacking moveset to have on Gyarados. Bite is one of the quickest fast moves in the game, which makes it really easy for you to dodge. Crunch as a 3-bar, 70 damage charge move allows you to hit hard and often. Combine that with the fact that Gyarados has one of the highest base attack stats in the game, Bite + Crunch = 2 moves of the same type (preferable for attacking), and it's a moveset that counters Mewtwo and Mew (which we'll expect to see in every gym once they're released).
