Dear PoGo players,
The update is cool, but the new guidelines are crap, and they also make most to want to "cheat," myself included. But instead of updating the app to take care of the problems (stagnant gyms/glitches/spoofers/cheaters/etc), the update brought more glitches, and legitimized the former "cheating."
1 (stagnation) only rewarded after being kicked out of a gym defended, without any reward for the opposition attacking a gym, while also rewarding "teammates" for prolonging your stay. Sounds like the best idea Niantic has ever come up with to help against stagnation. ?
*although the reward for feeding is < catching pokemon.
2 (glitches) if I sell you a product, and this product has a problem with it, should I (a) fix the problem, or (b) add something shiny to distract you from the problem, which also brings more problems with it... "but it's just shiny."
*my biggest gripe, fix your product, don't just add crap for instant $ and hope people look past it.
3 (spoofers) once a common enemy of the legit trainers. Most hope for a spoofer to come by and help with raids, especially those that showed up late, and/or no one else is around. Yes, you can get a team together, but members, of said team, do not have the same schedule as all other members.
4 (cheaters) instead of spending some time and effort to stop cheaters, spoofers, etc... you legitimized their ways; using alternate means to locate rare pokemon, and then go there to get them. Now you have raids, where you can locate rare pokemon, and go get them. No one cares about tracking for rarities, just track raids. And before the update, I saw a lot of complaints about cheaters tracking rare pokemon, but since we all can do it now, it's all good... guess what, you could have done it before.
(1&4) I've been called out for supporting "flippers," as if it was some sort of cheating, haven't done it yet, but sure the former shavers are. Shavers were truly the ass hats of cheaters, screwing over teammates for personal gain. But flipping gyms has 0 (zero) effect on anyone, other than the personal gain of 50 coins a day. Furthermore, legit players are the ones screwing teammates over by feeding berries to a pokemon that has been in a gym for days, for their own personal gain.
Think about that for a second:
-shavers harmed teammates, by cheating, for personal gain.
-flippers harm no one, by cheating, for personal gain.
-legit players harm teammates, by NOT cheating, for personal gain.
I'd support a flipper before a berry feeder.
Take out all the complaints from higher level trainers about the new update, and see it for what it is... a wonderful, freshly polished, turd. A way for them to not have to work on fixing the issues from before, but instead, throw in something extra so the dogs would forget... "squirrel!!!"
