Dear Niantec Santa

All I want for Christmas is to teach my amazing friend a new charge move. Please leave an item in my stocking for this purpose.

If any of you could change the move of one of your mons, which would it be? If you could get one wish from Niantec Santa, what would it be?

I have a 100 IV Dragonite afflicted with Steel Wing/Dragon Claw. I would like to change Steel Wing to Dragon Breath, or Dragon Claw to Dragon Pulse.

Btw, what is that IV button on the bottom left corner of your snapshot?

The button is from GoIV https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kamron.pogoiv

It is funny because I have the same exact wish as you! jajaj. After 4 months of playing and more than 500 eggs I finally hatched a Lapras two weeks ago, and it got the same moves as yours but with "only" 82% IV....I really got sad even I have completed the regional Europe pokedex :(

I agree but when you think about that it took 4 months to finally have it and complete the pokedex and you get the worst possible moveset for attacking and defending you can't avoid to feel sad :(

I want good moves for my Aerodactyl. It is my favorite mon, was my first really rare mon (hatched from an egg) and was the first mon I've put in a gym, but it has so shitty moves :(

I would change my beloved Dragonite's horrible Steel Wing into a wonderful Dragon Breath and take down your local Gym's as if it were still summer <3

How I think this idea should work, if/when it is finally implemented:
Consumable item: Technical Machine -- Randomly change one or both of a pokemon's moves. (Can't get from pokestops. Can only buy through the store with coins. Change to a different available moveset. Could change the fast move, or the charge move, or both.)
-- Maybe also cost a number of candy related to the egg distance of the pokemon and the evolution costs.

On related point, I think Lapras should have a water charge move instead of Dragon Pulse. Both of its ice charge moves already serve the purpose for attacking Dragonite. One of the closest things to a Lapras counter is a fire pokemon like Arcanine since fire resists ice, so it would be nice if Lapras had a water move for type coverage like most other pokemon. Out of the current water charge moves in Pokemon Go, in the main games Lapras can learn Water Pulse, Brine, and Hydro Pump by leveling up, and can learn Aqua Tail by move tutor.

Yes, I agree Lapras should have at least one water type charge move like Dewgong and Cloyster.

I was thinking of something like the eevee name trick. You can use it only once during the life of your account. When applied, it randomly changes both moves.

The game would be too easy if you could change moves on your mon. How much value would it have if every pokemon had the perfect moves? It would ruin the game. Just stop a moment an think...

This is sorta why I don't think they would allow for this change to happen...There would be less need to grind for more incubators/hatches, etc....meaning less money for Niantic...if they allowed move changes.

Most people still keep playing to get better moveset or higher IV mons and allowing a change of one or the other means less reasons to keep playing.

Don't feel too bad, my first Lapras hatch had the same moves (Ice Shard/Dragon Pulse). I have maxed it out for my level though and plan to keep powering it up...
Yours is at least 98% so I'd be super happy in your shoes.

Wife upset having played for 4+ months and still no Lapras (I have 2).

I understood the post more like if Niantic allowed us to change one Mon's moveset for Christmas :D

What if it required half of the evolution cost to randomly reset a 'mon's move set? 50 candies to reset Dragonite's move set. 1 in 6 chance of getting your ideal move set? 25 candies for Rhydon with a 1 in 6 chance to get your ideal move set? (My first 5 caught/evolved Rhydons ALL had Rock Smash/Megahorn).

For those wish no evolution (Lapras, Snorlax...), it would have to go to the highest candy cost (50 candies)? Just a thought. No guarantee, but at least you'd have a chance at salvaging a high IV 'mon with a terrible move set. Nothing is worse than a 'mon with 93+ IV's, a garbage move set, and no hope of being able to put it to use.

No one said twister to anything else on Gyarados or megahorn to anything else on Rhydon? Well I just did (in that order of preference).
I do hope there is a way to get different moves (the way there is in the games). I don't expect it to come without effort.
