Currently, how can a player obtain a Sinnoh Stone?

I know it can be obtained in a PvP battle, if one is lucky enough to get that reward after a win (not sure about a loss) (and I think there is a once per day ceiling on PvP battle rewards). For a while it was assured as the end result of completing the weekly research breakthrough, but no more, as far as I know. Please advise.

Any of your four battles (not just the trainer battle) - win or lose it doesn't matter. I've had 2 out of 12 - I think someone estimated the odds at 20% on each battle. You've also got a 20% chance on your weekly research breakthrough.

Thanks. Pretty poor odds. I guess it is designed to slow down progress in accumulating some of the Gen 4 pokemons.

Yes, but those poor odds will accumulate over time, and in six months people will be complaining about the Sinnoh stones clogging their bags up.

I have like 60 sinnoh stone evolvables lined up, I promise it will take quite a while until I start complaining about them. Except I wouldn't complain, because you can just delete them if they're in the way, just like the old evo items.

You said yourself. Those are the only two sources. Don't worry, in a couple of months you will be deleting stones because they take too much room in your inventory.

I just got one by winning a 2500 CP training session against blue leader team.

Got 3 stones over 3 days (12 battles)
2 stones from human opponents and 1 from AI opponent
Acceptable odds for me :)

You can get Sinnoh Stones from the team leader battles as well. I got one when I was fighting master-league Blanche.
