Crunch or Stone Edge on Tyranitar (against Lugia)?

Was about to TM my Stone Edge Tyranitar to Crunch but now Lugia is here I was wondering if Stone Edge might be slightly better and worth hanging onto until Lugia leaves?

Whatever I already have on any particular Tyranitar is my preference.

I have one of each. I think they are very close in damage. Not worth changing one.

Bigger question. Is it worth changing my Kyogre from Hydro Pump to Blizzard for Lugia?

Guess I'm answering a question on my own question :D I don't think so, unless you're really short for counters. Raikou and Tyranitar are much better. But if you're short for counters I wouldn't imagine you have many charged TM's to waste either and you will definitely be wanting to switch back to hydro later... Kyogre is listed as a tank counter in the Lugia Guide, there are even very common Pokemon like Golem that I'd put before Kyogre.

I'd say that if you have a Mewtwo raid soon then change it, otherwise leave it as against Lugia the damage difference, if there is any at all, is not worth the TM.

Not worth the CTM.

I'd even go so far as to say that it would be the wrong move to make, unless you live in an area that is Foggy on a regular basis. Where I am, it's Partly-Cloudy quite often - and stable, so it's partly-cloudy for 2+ hours at a time - so that Stone Edge gets boosted quite often. I've only seen Foggy weather here once (which isn't surprising as it's Winter here).

I'd keep the Stone Edge.

Good point, I forgot about the weather and it's never foggy here. Going to stick with stone edge, thanks!

If no weather buff, then Crunch is better by a small margin and being more consistent. Stone Edge is better only if the last cycle is complete (T-tar dies right after Stone Edge hits). Two are pretty close though and the difference is within 1%, both Pokebattler and GoBattleSim suggest.

Any receives a weather buff will be better.

As for CTM, I suggest a go. T-tar's long term future role is Dark Specialist.

Agreed. Assuming they do not ever give Tyranitar a Rock quick move (and I could see them not), its place will always be as a Dark attacker. Other Rock types will come along to fill that niche.

billabong21's questing isn't about TMing it in long term it is whether it "worth hanging onto until Lugia leaves?"

According to this site:

Stone Edge has better weave DPS unless it is foggy. Practically, Crunch will lead to less wasted energy, narrowing the gap (unless it is partly cloudy).
