Counter Snorlax?

Could somebody advice me which mon can actually counter Snorlax, thx! Too many out there!
I've tried Golem and Rhydon with MS/SE, but 1.5s Mud slap is so uncomfortable i can only attack once between two oppenent's quick move if I want to dodge them(or don't need to do so?)
If Machamp wif KS/AC a good choice?

No real need to dodge anything but charge moves if using Rhydon against Snorlax - he's tanky enough to survive.

Thanks mate! Have you tried Machamp, is he better than Rhydon? Or even worse so I don't need to put effort on chasing them. Besides, is Machamp a good choice against Lapras?

Machamp sucks. Rhydon is the only true counter to snorlax. And Arcanine is the best available counter to Lapras if you don't dodge everything. If you dodge everything believe it or not Dragonite is the best counter to Lapras. Just don't get hit and the dnite will take out a Lapras faster than Arcanine.

Thank you.
Sad story, time to say goodbye to Mr fitness.

I'm pretty sad Machamp is so awful I've seen some buffed up 2500 Machamps (near max) on such channels like PokeAk get whooped by a low cp Snorlax with ZH/Eq as a move. One missed dodge on that charge move lol leaves that Mon to be borderline useless.

i personally am building up a rhydon with RS+EQ to counter that pesky snorlax...truly disgusting to see him in every gym.

i normally weaken the snorlax with primeape with low kick between switching out to rhydon to finish him off. Primeape needs less potion and low kick is a very fast & super effective move.

But that is me.

Low kick is a funny name. Haha. I always picture it being a nut cracker.

Wow haven't heard about this before. I'll try primeape, he is more common in the wild. Thank you.

Actually, you will need a high level and HP Pokémon to counter snorlaxes.

Rhydon (that Pokemon everyone loves to hate) is actually the best counter to Snorlax.

MS/EQ and MS/SE are the best, but if you don't have them then honestly any move combo will work OK.

You probably had a tough time b/c you were dodging. By dodging, you hurt yourself in 2 ways

1) By attacking slower and lowering your DPS you prolong the fight allowing Snorlax to get more charge moves in

2) By attacking slower and taking less dmg you lower energy gain, giving you less chances to use your charge move.

Just keep an eye out for charge moves and ignore all quick moves. Even ZH will do hardly any dmg

I agree i've noticed with rhydon you don't need to dodge every quick move. He is tanky enough to withstand being hit. Also attacking more gives you more opportunity to deliver those devastating charge moves. I just watch out for the enemy's charge moves. Rhyhorn is so common in my area, i was able to max out 2 rhydons with ms/se and ms/eq. And those are a beast to use against snorlax and even mon that resists him.

Nugjuice - You rock, dude! I have been "dodging all" (or trying to) with my Rhydons versus Snorlax, but after I read your post I gave your "no dodge except for charge moves" tactic a try and it worked much better than my "dodge all" approach because I got in more charge moves against the Snorlax. Before, I was occasionally having "time out" issues.

Another thing I would like to point out about Rhydon is that, versus Sorlax, Rhydons quick move of Rock Smash is just about as good as Rhydon's quick Mud Slap because Rock Smash is a fighting move to which Snorlax is weak, so the dps difference for Rock Smash versus Mud Slap for attacking into Snorlax is fairly trivial. Also, I have found that even Megahorn, with no STAB for Rhydon or weakness by Snorlax, is pretty good, not the best, but pretty good. Just don't dodge the quick moves from Snorlax. Time to go kick Snorlax in his fat ***!

I usually use Vaporeon as a quick means to take Snorlax down.

Against Snorlax with Zen Headbutt, I like to use Exeggutor with Zen Headbutt+Solar Beam since psychic is resistant to psychic.

Against Snorlax with Lick, I'll switch to pretty much any heavy hitter except Exeggutor since psychic is weak to ghost. Lick is a pretty bad move on defense, but don't need to be giving them any advantage.

I've seen vaporeon take it down faster than anything. Dodge and you ll be great

rhydon is the obvious choice any moveset works and you dont need to dodge everything. if the snorlax is near 3000 make sure your rhydon is somewhat close to that in cp. but you can get away with a 500cp diff unless the snorlax has bodyslam by far the best move on defense

my personal favorite is alakazam. there is no better attacker in the game in my opinion than a psycho cut pyschic alakazam esp if you can get it powered to 23-2400s. it melts through anything in its way (faster than dragonite)- as long as you dodge well....its only weak to dark/ghost - so if the snorlax has lick wont work as well but most snorlaxes ive encountered hav zen.

others that work well are flareon/arcanine as fire powerful - vape of course as its super beefy in hp but takes alot longer and isnt potion friendly.

machamp isnt as bad as you think if its high enough cp and has the cross chop finisher. just make sure the snorlax doesnt have zen as its weak to psychic.

sadly theres nothing that eats snorlax at anywhere close to same rate as another defender but any powerful attacker with high enough cp will get the job done...to repeat do not understimate alakazam...even if it just has psychocut...just keep spamming it as its dps is close to most pokemons charge move...and psychic makes it a no brainer top attacker. into pretty much anything.

final thoughts...if your rhydon has same cp or close to snorlax...no need to doge..itll do just fine

"its only weak to dark/ghost "

FWIW: Alakazam is also weak to Bug type attacks.

you wont really encounter bug type moves from any pokemon in gyms (usually)- and this was discussing snorlax. but fair- forgot to write that. my point still stands thought. alakazam is the best attacker

Dragonite is way better than rhydon. Resisting charged moved is not very helpful.
Alakazam is good also because he is the fastest and resist ZH.

Totally agree, I normally use either Dragonite or Alakazam, if I am low on potions or don't want to dodge (too cold or in a hurry) I use Dragonite, if not I prefer Alakazam, even without having him maxed out yet it is a beast on offense.

For me Rhydon does not worth the use of candies and dust to power him up just to take snorlax and have a better place in gym, it is a really bad defender mon.

My personal thoughts is that he will be nerfed sooner or later, he has another evolution on future genarations and it won't have the same high CP, they will balance it.

I always use Gyarados with Bite+Hydropump, just dodge the charge moves and pump him to dead. Bite generates energy so quick and its CD time is short to help you dodge those deadly attacks.

Try Dragonite with DB/HB.
