Confusion vs Psycho Cut for Mewtwo?

I have two Mewtwo both have Co/SB.

Today I failed a Alakazam solo, his moves were PC/SB.

My team was:

1) Gengar 2,331 SC/SB
2) Mewtwo 3,358 Co/SB
3) Mewtwo 3,356 Co/SB
4) Tyranitar 3,171 B/C
5) Tyranitar 3,168 B/C
6) Tyranitar 3,163 B/C

After I lost the battle I TM'd both of my Mewtwo's to Psycho Cut and tried again. I STILL LOST!

So my question is about what fast move is best for Mewtwo?

I was under the impression that Confusion was better, but against Alakazam or Psychic pokemon then Psycho cut is the way to go. Today neither mattered for me.

Which makes me wonder if I need to power both Mewtwo up further or power up the rest of my team more?

I don't really want to change Shadow Ball, unless I get good reason to because I don't really battle gyms ever so scratch focus blast, and for Machamp solo's I have a nice team of Alakazam, Espeon, SA Moltres, Metagross, Confusion Mewtwo, and Gardevoir. I basically only raid, solo tier 3's and attempt to duo tier 4.

With that said is there a consensus on the best fast move for Mewtwo? I have been very confused about this. I have 8 fast TM's.

Thanks!

It depends on what the oppoent is.
for targets that resist psychic and are weak to ghost, Psycho cut's higher EPS is better, but I believe in all other cases Confusion is better.

With the coming mewtwo raid month, if you are going for it that is, I would highly recommend keeping all shadow ball mewtwo on psycho cut

You need to dodge against Alakazam. Your team is very good. Psycho Cut is better.

Have you ever actually soloed Alakazam? This is horrible advice, as I stated below. Alakazam is a race against time, and you want to dodge as little as possible, preferably not at all. Against FB Alakazam, a few dodges may be necessary, but more than three or four dodges will kill DPS too much to complete the raid successfully.

I agree with what you wrote, but let's not underestimate dodging. It is actually necesarry to win, because sometimes you want to blast of that extra charge move.

No, it is not! Dodging almost always hurts you more than it helps you in solos that are a race against time, like Alakazam. The only time it is necessary to dodge against Alakazam is if he has focus blast, and then you have to be very careful not to dodge one too many times. Three is probably about the right number of dodges against FB, and two is better if you can get away with it.

I've done many Alakazam solos, including every moveset multiple times except C/FB, and I never dodged, except for a couple of focus blasts. Against the PC movesets, I usually win with more than 10 seconds left. It's closer against confusion, but close fights make not dodging all the more important.

I haven't soloed Alakazams, but based on the videos I've seen, dodging Shadow Balls with Mewtwo and Gengar, and when Tyranitar reaches yellow HP gives you the best shot.

Confusion does more damage, but psycho cut builds energy faster and is MUCH easier to dodge with. In a solo raid, I would use psycho cut because you need to dodge every charged move. But I would power up the Mewtwos a little more. And Max that Gengar!

With all due respect, that is about the worst advice I've ever heard. Dodge every charge move?!? Forget about ever soloing Alakazam using that strategy. Dodging is great for gym battles, but it kills DPS, and raids are a race against time. There are only a few situations where dodging is beneficial in solo raids, and even then, more than two or three dodges is too many. But PC/SB 'Zam is not one of the cases where dodging is neccessary, especially with the OP's team.

PC is better for this raid, but because of energy build, not because of dodging. Remove the SC/SB Gengar from the team, and put in a powered-up double dark Houndoom or Absol, or double bug Pinsir or Scizor, in the last slot, in place of the Gengar (or better yet, another B/C Ttar if you have one).

Lead off with two PC/SB Mewtwos, follow with the B/C Ttars, then put one of the above in the last slot, and DON'T DODGE!!

I solo’d the same Alakazam today (PC/SB) - first time successful against SB and it took three tries with different order of the same team:

Houndoom 2421 Sn/FP
Tyranitar 3303 B/C
Gengar 2584 SC/SB
Tyranitar 3631 B/C
Mewtwo 3632 Co/SB
Tyranitar 3167 B/C

Houndoom was the champ for me at getting ahead of the clock. And dodging with Houndoom and Gengar was critical, but no dodging with either of the T-Rex or the Mewtwo - just let the boss SB build the charge on both. Knocked it out with under 10 seconds remaining and about 15% left of the Mewtwo and never used the last Tyranitar. Sometimes changing up the order of the attackers can make all the difference.

My advice, don't start with Gengar, because it will eat those first 2 initial quick attacks. Especially with confusion cases, this matters.

You need to dodge the Shadow Balls with the Mewtwos. It's Shadow Ball, and it can kill Mewtwo in seconds. Did you dodge?
