Confirmation of a 20% Weather-type Move Damage Buff

A video posted on https://thesilphroad.com/news/pokemon-go-new-weather-effects/ showcases the various weather effects.

The video showcasing the [Clear] weather condition features a Rhydon being caught, showing the extra stardust provided when catching during Clear weather conditions.

However, since Rhydon doesn't evolve, its moves were partially visible in the last few frames of the video, so I took a screenshot.

Notice the 20% increase in the Ground-type moves power
(120/5=24; The move strength is [120+24])

Very cool that they seem to be planning to display the bonus to you...

Makes sense, Ground is kind of weak, so on the many clear days (in most parts of the world) it can take advantage of the buff.

Which weather condition benefits Rock, Normal, Poison, Fairy and Fighting types? They are not listed. Partially Cloudy condition?

If I were to design this, a Thunder condition where Electric, Dark and Fighting are grouped. Poison under Fog (smog). I would think Grass actually thrives better under Rain, and Bug under Clear conditions.

On the other hand, if types which are super effective to each other are simultaneously benefited, you would not see much effect in relative power.

In the games it is partly based on abilities. Regarding grass pokemon, sunny weather helps Solar Beam and a lot of grass pokemon with certain sun-based abilities, where as rainy weather hinders fire moves and helps some other rain-based abilities. I'd say grass is more closely related to Sunny Day though.

How are they going to know the local conditions everywhere in the world simultaneously at all times?

This can not be accurate...but then again, they are happy with how EX raids work at the moment.

EDIT If you disagree with something I have said, please by all means actually comment so that we all might learn from my mistakes. A down vote alone is as useless as tits on a bull.

They won’t. You’re right and that’s all that matters. This game is always wrong.

Every remotely recent smartphone has a weather app constantly running. Which is pretty accurate in my experience.

"How are they going to know the local conditions everywhere in the world simultaneously at all times?"

It's called synoptic observations, across the world weather services operate weather stations and professional observers (mainly at airports) that report the weather status at hourly or three-hourly intervals. The output are METAR and SYNOP bulletins.

Probably the game will use Open Weather Map that does an objective analysis (interpolation) to grid the various observations (satellite for cloud cover, weather radar for rain/snow) or may use numerical weather prediction model +3hr/+6hr forecast fields created every 6 hours (e.g. GFS or ECMWF)
