Completed Pokedex other than Region Specifics
So last night I finished my pokedex. I am curious other than Region Specifics and perhaps Ditto since it's new.
What level were you when you finished your Pokedex
and what were your last 3 pokemon to complete.
Me: Level 34
Last: Muk (wouldnt you know it I made it my buddy was at 48 candy, and then got my 2nd grimer ever from an egg and had 62 candy suddenly)
Second Last: Charizard
Third Last: Kabutops
And for side note all 3 got move sets I didn't want lol

Level 33, completed my regional pokedex during the halloween event with a Lapras hatched. My second last was also Charizard, I was 40 candies away from him some days before the event and a friend saw him like 20 mins away from my home, I ran like never before and after more than 60 ultra balls and berries I catched him, a catch that I will never forget, even after I got a second Charizard from evolving with the perfect offensive moves and 14/14/14 some days ago.
I'm currently on Level 31.
I completed the pokedex at level 29. However, Ditto came into the game when I was at Level 31, in which I caught him the first day he came out. I know the OP said excluding Ditto and regional exclusives anyway, just stating these facts. Anyway, Level 29 was when i completed it.
The last pokemon i needed was Lapras, and it took me awhile to get one as It took a few weeks before I could get him. I caught it in the wild and have since hatched only one more during the Thanksgiving event. A lot of people seem to have a ton of Lapras' in their arsenal, and i'm not sure how.
The second to last one was Omastar, and third to last was Muk.
Dragonite was never a problem for me since I caught one in the wild early on and even caught one more a few weeks ago. I have also evolved two since I live in an area where Dratinis spawn often enough and currently am sitting on 212 Dratini Candies ready to power up my fully powered up Dragonite with DB/DC (88.9% IV) and to find another perfect Dratini.
Lvl 33 and 30km to walk to finally get Charizard (unless I get lucky with an egg in the meantime). I'll have walked him for over 100k...
Second to last was Kabutops - was really struggling (didn't get my first Kabuto until lvl30) when I hatched 3 Kabuto in a row over 2 days.
Third to last was Muk - had to walk 30km to finish off.
I was level 30 when I finished my regional dex with Muk. I caught one 16 CP Grimer and made it my buddy for the longest time until I finally hatched two. So I evolved the best one only to get the worst possible move set. Oh well. At least I completed it.
I had all others for so long, it's hard to remember what the other final two were. But I think they were Omastar and Kabutops (both also with awful moves).
I'm level 29, missing:
Venusaur (47 candies to go)
Charizard (44 to go)
Raichu (26 - don't think I've ever encountered a wild Pikachu)
Clefable (I can evolve but waiting for one with really good IV's)
Alakazam (47)
Machamp (73)
Dodrio (19)
Muk (17 - current buddy)
Chansey
Omastar (I can evolve but waiting for one with really good IV's (that has more than 58CP)
Plus the ones unavailable in the UK - Farfetch'd, Kangaskhan and Tauros, plus the legendaries, Mewtwo and Mew :-)
Wow, Bulbasaurs seems pretty rare around the world. That's curious. In my city in Brazil, Bulbasaurs are everywhere. Already got 7 Venusaurs and with 182 candys at the moment.
I'm at level 27. It's missing 7 pokemons (not counting the regional ones).
They are:
-Machoke and Machamp (already got 118 candys, so I just need 2 more Machop to get them both;
-Dewgong, I got 26 candys at the moment. Seel is my actual buddy;
-Muk, I got 38 candys at the moment, so 3 more Grimers to go;
-Raichu, pretty easy to get by buddy, as Pikachu gives 1 candy per km. But I'm waiting a high IV Pikachu to evolve it;
-Lapras;
-Chansey.
EDIT: just found a nice Machoke at my job and evolved it. Five pokemon remaining now!
I'm level 33 and still need five pokemon (excluding region exclusives): Charizard, Primeape, Machamp, Hitmonlee & Chansey. My most recent additions (last 10 days) have been Tangela, Muk, and Venusaur. I stumbled onto a Bulbasaur nest a few days ago, and farmed it extensively to get the Venusaur. Same with a Kabuto nest I found a few weeks ago -- discovered it late one night, and went back 6-7 times over the next two days to farm enough to get a Kabutops (two, actually). That nest is gone, but since then, I caught a Kabutops in the wild (CP 33).
I have certain guidelines for myself. I don't like to evolve my only example of a given pokemon, because then I will no longer have the first one, so I need at least two before I will evolve. Also, I don't like to rely on the buddy system too much to fill out the pokedex. I will use it to supplement the candies I get from catches and hatches, but I prefer not to use the buddy system too much for that purpose. I would rather use my buddy to power up my best pokemon. When I do use the buddy system to get candies for new pokemon I need, I stop when I am one catch away from evolving, and wait to catch the last one in the wild, or hatch it. For example, I have 47 Mankey candies, but am waiting to catch one in the wild rather than buddy-walking with a Mankey.
For me, the best way to acquire pokemon, in order, is:
- Catch in wild (most preferable)
- Evolve from wild-caught & hatched pokemon
- Hatch
- Evolve from buddy system (least preferable).
So, I would rather take a little longer and fill out my pokedex the hard way, as much as possible. I'm not suggesting that anyone else should play by my guidelines; it is just what I prefer.
Level 29 in the Cotswolds in the UK - semi rural and just 5 stops in my small town. Apart from the regional's still need Venasaur, Charizard, Aerodactyl, Golem, Omaster... you guys are lucky to see the likes of Snorlax, Lapras, Charizard, etc in the wild...you need to live where I do! :)
I've only ever seen 2 Lapras on sightings (caught one) and 2 snorlax (0 found / 0 caught) since the very beginning. Hatched 1 Snorlax and that's the extent of the best stuff. No Grimer in any eggs either - although last week caught a 489 Muk! :) lol ... it's been a painful grind
Level 28, still have 19 left? Sounds like I'm awfully far behind (but I just catch boatloads of pidgeys for levelling) (candies needed in brackets).
Need:
Venusaur (~50 candies)
Charmeleon & Charizard (never caught a Charmander even aside from my starter)
Raichu (have the candies)
Sandslash (~20 candies)
Ninetails (have the candies)
Diglet and Dugtrio (never seen either)
Primeape (~20 candies)
Alakazam (~50 candies)
Machoke and Machamp (~50 candies)
Dodrio (~30 candies)
Electrode (3 candies)
Chansey
Magmar
Gyarados (~30 candies)
Omastar (~40 candies)
Kabutops (~40 candies)
Level 32, and still have never even seen a Lapras apart from gyms. It's the only one I'm missing apart from regionals.
My last 3 Pokédex additions were Muk (my phone used to suffer from the Grimer glitch), Hitmonchan, and Dewgong.
Never saw a wild Seel, and only ever hatched one, but it had good IVs and hatched at level 20, so I walked with it for a while and was finally able to evolve a Dewgong... the day after Dewgong got nerfed :l
I finished my pokedex at level 29 (excluding regional).
My last two were:
aerodactyl (hatched)
muk (used grimer as buddy)
third last I can't remember but what I do know is that I caught a wild Charizard at level 26 or so, and recently a evolved my high IV charmander to a charizard (not a good moveset unfortunately)
Level 29 (Auckland, New Zealand)
I still need 13 (excluding regional), candies needed in parantheses:
Ninetales (5)
Machamp (40)
Magneton (8)
Dewgong (23)
Muk (15)
Electrode (8)
Omastar (28)
Onix, Hitmonlee, Lickitung, Jynx, Electabuzz, Lapras
10k eggs are few and far between and I rarely pay for incubators.
