Does anyone know why Pokemon shift color after updates? I was looking at my Blissy (now more pink) and my shiny Gyarados (the underbelly and spots are now a more pinky-orange rather than yellow).

I think it is just a graphics change for change sake. It could also theoretically have something to do with color schemes of future Gen4 mons.

Thanks. I'm just slightly irritated that this is a color shift I can see as opposed to the difference between shiny Sunkern or Zapdos (I am sure my original Zapdos had the shiny coloration).

Yes, Zapdos was originally released with the shiny model as the generic form.

As far as Blissey, Staryu, etc., it's just a colour palette shift, not an actual change to game play.

The update has a newer version of the Unity game engine. I assume that the new engine has slightly different rendering or lighting settings that don't match entirely with the previous version.
