Claydol raid counter guide-

Other than Gengar and Kyogre no pokemon can beat the clock against this boss without a weather boost.

(Case in point-I beat the boss using Kyogre and 3 Gengar with 12 seconds left, with some tail wind help as Kyogre fired 5 HP and a Gengar did 4 Shadow balls).

Should there at least be some comment on this guide that the other counters need some help?

It is not the best guide if someone runs in with 6 maxed Ttars or Gyarados and still finds them coming up short without a weather boost.

I'd love to see which Mons are viable with a weather boost.
I failed miserably against Claydol but I'm wondering if 2 weather boosted Sceptiles or Scizors could replace my lack of a 2nd powered up Kyogre

Scizor isn't all that high-dps and is kind of glassy anyways so I wouldn't put my money on it.

Wouldn't Exeggcutor be better for being tankier and resistant to Psychic?

Yes, I just hate how slow he is. I have lots of high level ones with BS/SoB though. I'll give it a shot

For rainy weather gyarados at lvl 30 and kyogre at 25 are enough. Also high level scizor and pinsir are on time.
For clear weather eggys and sceptile are good enough. Even high level shiftry, cacturn and venosaur. Obviously groudon.
Windy give high level M2 and Ray.

Been done with 3x Gengar and 3x Gyarados, so Kyogre isn't the only option.

Nice attempt, however you can see for yourself that Gyarados was clearly not keeping up with time and you only did it because your gengars pulled it ahead of time.

I'm not saying you can't do this solo using the pokemon on the list other than Gengar and Kyogre. Rather, a winning team must include either, or both.

Assuming I can't get help from the weather, how would this team fare?
Gengar lvl 32.5 H/SB
Gengar lvl 31.5 H/SB
Gengar lvl 29 SP/SB
Gengar lvl 29 SP/SB
Kyogre lvl 31.5 WF/HP
Gyarados lvl 32.5 WF/HP

No chance. Kyogre need to reach the last breakpoint (lvl 36 for 15 atk). Max gengar with hex can only keep you on time with perfect dodging (ttw ~180).

Your Gengars' problem is the lack of Shadow Claw. Have you plugged this team into Pokebattler? I can't imagine it would do enough damage.

Yeah I have no legacy Gengars :(.
My best attempt has been 2 Gengar, 2 Gyarados and 1 Kyogre.
Was hoping adding 2 more Gengars up front might get me ahead of the clock to finish up with Kyogre.

if it is billed as a solo guide, then yes.

there are certainly people who do these as 2-man teams.

2 man team trivialises this into a Vaporeon spraying exercise though......even two 30s can probably do it

That doesn’t matter. Level 30 players are allowed to play also.

I'm going to try with:

* 3857 (L37) Kyogre
* 2548 (L40) Gengar (SC/SB)
* 3827 (L39) Mewtwo
* 3265 (L40) Gyarados
* 2559 (L40) Sceptile
* 3626 (L40) Tyranitar

Pokebattler tells me I'm just ahead of the cutoff.

Hope you can succeed. I have a similiar team except some are at lower levels.

Currently:
* 3744 (L35.5) Kyogre
* 2548 (L40) Gengar (SC/SB)
* 3441 (L32) Mewtwo
* 3231 (L40) Gyarados
* 2577 (L40) Sceptile
* 3662 (L40) Tyranitar

Pls update us on how you did. Believe I need to power up Kyogre and Mewtwo before having any chance of succeeding. Problem is I only have enough rare candies to do one.

I will, and good luck to you, too!

Regarding your candy allocation, a Kyogre with 15 Attack reaches a breakpoint against Claydol at L36, so I'd put my candy there before Mewtwo (which has no Psycho Cut breakpoints against Claydol at all, and will be your third-best damage dealer even when powered up).

Tks for the advice. Unfortunately my Kyogre only has 12 Attack and thus needs to power up to L37.5.

I caught 11 Kyogres but none has IV > 84 nor Att >12 !

Yes you are right. Gengar or Kyogre are the only options that will get you ahead of time.

I did 4 unique Claydol solo today (no weather boost), used Gengar, Kyogre, Sharpedo and Mewtwo. Gengar being the top DPS counter was able to fire off 4 Shadow Balls, was the MVP.

Had a very strong team

SC/SB Gengar 98%
FC/SB Mewtwo 96%
3 WF/HP Kyogre 100, 98, 98
All at lvl 40 with 15 in attack

Even so I missed first attempt (no Dodging since I had never fought a Claydol before)

Next attempt I took out Mewtwo, and Gengar got better result ( 4 instead of only 2 SB). Did it with 6s to spare. So even with top teams the margin is very small.
