Charged TM's
Good day fellow trainers,
what are your observations in regards of receiving Charged TM's from raids? I feel like the drop rate decreased drasticly.
For some silly reason, I spent arround 30 Charged TMs on not realy meta relevant pokemon because I felt I get them back within a few months easily. I'm doing T4/T5 raids almost everyday and have only received 3 since November.
Also, what are your thoughts on Niantic letting us buy them in the Shop?

I'd say that in addition to your T4 & T5 daily raids, do some T3 raids by yourself as well. You'll get a nice amount of reward bundles since you would be doing all of the damage for your team and individually + winning the raid. I've gotten only potions, golden raspberries and revives from T3 raids. I've also gotten 2 charge TM's from an Alolan Raichu on Christmas Day and 8 rare candies from a Machamp raid yesterday. I didn't expect those good of rewards, but its nice to see that there is another option for good rewards besides T4 and T5 raids.
Regarding Charge TM's being able to be purchased, I'm on the fence. Seeing how tough & randomly you get them, in addition to their importance, I can't blame anyone for wanting the option of buying them. On the other hand, if Charge TM's were in the store, why not just put Rare Candy, Golden Rasperries, Silver Pinaps and everything else in as well? I think that if nothing else, Charged TM's should drop at the same rate as Fast TM's.
I feel like I took CTM's for granted for a long time - I used to have almost 40 but after dropping them on Mewtwo before Shadow Ball went legacy coupled with slowing the amount of T5 raids I do PLUS adding 2nd charge moves for PvP has left me in a pretty bad bind. Compare that to almost 50 FTM's I have no use for.
I'm pretty against the notion of adding items like CTM's to the store. It encroaches too much into P2W territory. Arguably the game is already there with the need to purchase raid passes to raid more than once a day but the raid rewards are randomized to where people who pay to play still can't reliably amass more CTM's than a F2P player. I like the idea of adding them into PvP rewards since playing with move combos is more important than ever now.
Arguably.
I don't put a cent in the game since July 2016, when it was launched (you know, novelty, hype...).
I admit that I don't raid everyday in winter when weather is rubbish and gets dark too early. But I raided a lot in Summer, specially over events.
I feel that I could raid twice a day all year long just by buying the boxes with the best deals on passes. That's why I question qualifying PoGo as P2W. (Try JWA, that's real P2W).
I do play JWA, but mainly to catch stuff/battle at home (plus my 4 y/o likes/memorizes Dinos better than Pokemon). I have 2200 trophies playing a few times a week for free, I do ok maintaining but doubt many spend much at this level. You'd need $5 a week to keep up at the 3000 level.
With CTM, in 2019 I'm gonna have 10 CTM be my floor, granted I do 1 tier 5 a day, so that'll take less than a month I hope.
That's what I was trying to convey, as it currently is PoGo is at worst *slightly* P2W in that there isn't a clear cut advantage people who pay to play over those who are F2P such as yourself. It depends on how regularly someone who is F2P is able to collect 50 coins a day.
I think the bigger divide is between players who play in areas with a lot of stops and active communities versus those who are in more remote areas with little activity.
I got a lot just before/during/after Ho-Oh Lugia reprise. Like 12 CTM in 5 or so days...slower since then despite Heatran being easy for me to handle. Spent all 12 of those plus the ones since trying to get the better extra move on some of the exclusive starters, plus ridding Weavile(s) of FB and giving Rhy(s) EQ. One case 9CTM trying to get DC on a BB Charizard, it still doesn’t have DC (I just did 10k dust on two other Char and got it there).
Buying in the shop is unlikely to ever happen. Currently the only way to get them (outside of a few from special research and very rarely from monthly research) is to buy passes and gamble for them, which is probably more profitable for Niantic. If it wasn't, they'd just have put TMs, GRBs and RC in the coin shop in the first place.
Drop rates were always low for CTM
With the new Generation and PvP we just used a lot and now realize that it will take a while to recover.
To be honest I think thats a good thing. Will motivate me again to do some raids and also rewards the hardcores (if they didnt toss them).
Also CTM have always been one of the very rare strategic aspects of this game. Therefore you shouldnt be able to buy them. Stardust as well.
Did you consider just paying up to get a second charge move on the Rhyperior? I evolved three Rhyperiors, and had terrible luck getting earthquake, and my CTM's were already depleted from lick Gengars. I'm always running low on stardust, but can accumulate it more reliably than I can CTM's, so it was well worth buying the second charge move. I also had 500+ Rhyhorn candies, though, when Heatran was released.
If you're swimming in CTM's, and low on Rhyhorn candies, I suppose spending a bunch of CTM's in order to be able to duo Heatran is justifiable, rather than buying the second charge move.
My 2nd account beat a Machamp (doing the 10 raid special task) got 2 charged TMs (friendly gym). 8 minutes later helped beat a Heatran (enemy gym) got two more charged TMs. Gave me the gumption to switch a lucky Dragonite from DM to OR, used the 4 CTMs to get it.
***Conclusion: looks to be possible to get CTMs from tier 3
