Chansey ??? Tier

So i've caught so many chansey in my town, and it seems 3 chanseys becomes a superstar defender for taking gyms about 2-3 days until a high level spoofers came to wreck them all.

And after looking at chansey stats, moves, and perks. I can safely say, she is Tier 1.5 in my opinion with gamepress moveset and Tier 3 for other movesets.

Why?
After using chanseys as a defender and trying different kind of mixed gyms. Chansey is at best as ninth or tenth gym defender as a wall for low level trainer trying to chip out their defenses.

My gym consists of snorlax, dragonite, 2 laprases, exeggutor, 2 vaporeons, rhydon, poliwrath with bubble, and chansey as the tenth.

And the thing is my chansey last a whooping 22 days before it fainted gracefully. The gym is near my house so that's why it last longer than it should.

So that's my experience using chansey, tell me in the comments if chansey should be at higher tier or lower. I rate it Tier 1.5 because of it's usefulness for weeding out the low level trainer trying to chip out the gym defenses.

Side note: Blissey is guaranteed a gamebreaker, if equipped with tackle as quick and any stab charge moves.

Chansey will always placed at the bottom of a gym.

If i am in same team and want to get in, i can't prestige this gym. The only chance is, to take a friend or a second acount of different team, kick chansey out, and prestige gym afterwards.
Is this good for the team? No, as long as chansey is in, gym will not raise.
Is this good for Chanseys trainer? No, he will be kicked first - either from own or opposing team.

One single story of a gym with chansey that rested for three weeks does not prove anything. From work i see a gym with a CP1200 Pidgeot, that lasts for three month. That does not prove Pidgeot to be a high tiered gym defender.

Does a chansey deter opponents? I suggest, it does not. It may have 50% more effective health in comparison to snorlax. On the other hands side, it does not force attacker to dodge, as it has a really low attack stat.

I do not rate Chansey a 1,5 Tier, i agree to the ? rating in gamepress.

I rate chansey Tier 1.5 for it's sole purpose for weeding out the lower pokemon trainer who is trying to chip out the defenses.

Not for as a general defender. Lvl 30 and up could faint chansey so easily, my dragonite and alakazam can decimate chanseys without a sweat. And for that i would rate it Tier 3 and lower for it's general defense because only for it's bulk.

But i would still agree with chansey on ??? tier because of it's high bulk but with very poor attack.

Well, my personal thoughts is that unless you have a gym with multiple Chanseys in a row (like 3-4-5 or even more) it is an underrated mon for defense, nowadays everyone is at least level 30 (at least almost everyone involved in gym battling), so it is very easy to take down a Chansey, it just takes more time than other mons but her attack is sooo low that even having a huge HP pool it won't last, and also Chansey will have always the bottom spot of a gym, so you just need to fight her once to kick her out.

For me Snorlax is like 100 times better, and other low cp defenders like Poliwrath and Slowbro are much more annoying. It is true that most people don't have patience but 90 seconds is more than enough to take down a Chansey.

Things will be a lot different when Blissey comes out, she is gonna be a gamebraker for sure if nothing is done in terms of balancing and I defenitely see her taking Snorlax and Dragonite from the top places of gyms.

I would rank Chansey in Tier 2. Its taking an absurdely high amount of time to take her down, so if you use Bubblestrat to combine 10 Chansey in a gym, its almost guaranteed, that no sole player is looking forward to take down such a gym, so it has a lot of potential. On the other hand she doesnt really shine in any specific matchups with the neutral typing, which can be an advantage as you can see at Snorlax, but on the other hand, the damage-output is simply too low, to threat anyone without being super effective. So to me Poliwrath/Slowbro are slightly better defenders. Also it has some clear disadvantages for your team, as some has already mentioned. Thats why I would say, that one single Chansey doesnt make a great defender, but a gym full of them will annoy the hell outta the attacker. ;)

Requiring you to do something special like bubblestrat a gym to level 10 and fill it with multiple Chansey is not tier 2. If you are working with a group and doing something odd, then it might take a long time to tear down the gym (not the same thing as being a good defender), but otherwise it is horrible. That is the reason for "tier ???".

Also, I imagine Chansey probably has a big target on it. Whenever I see a high level player at the bottom of an enemy gym using an obviously throwaway pokemon or something annoying like Chansey, I will attack just long enough to knock them out even if I don't have time or intent to take it even further down. If I ever saw a gym filled with multiple Chansey, I would take it as a challenge and would love to tear it down however long it took.

I have seen a few times bubblestrated gyms filled with Snorlax. Even those do not last. At least Snorlax by itself is a good defender. For a gym filled with Chansey, the attacker would not have to dodge much at all. Just use the biggest attackers available and smash away.

Chansey was good during the short period of time while prestige was halved and ditto was introduced. Many players were placing low CP trash and newly acquired dittos in gyms that weren't being prestiged. For that brief time chansey could sit above the bottom spot and was fairly useful forcing the opponent to fight it multiple times.

Nowadays...not very useful without teamwork.

I simply throw Chansey into the gym that is taken down 10 times everyday in our campus after I take that gym down every morning/evening when I pass by. Just to annoy the other teams;) That gym is rarely leveled up above level 4... so...

Gym here have 1200 vaporeon, 1300 flareon and 1400 charizard.

So im using my 1236cp chansey as 9th defender, so it leaves 1200 vaporeon as 10th defender and then protects those low cp fire types.

Also this gives me time when i see gym is getting attacked, to go out there and start prestiging it again while under attack.

Without Chansey, they could easily go and tear gym down before i even get chance to go out there and start prestiging again.

Level 10 gyms with 2 (or more?) Chancey at positions 8/9 or 9/10 seems to be a good deterrent against 2nd account sniping - from my experience in a gym where I kept getting kicked out since near the bottom, until some kind souls put in these two pink mons. Certainly will be different post-event.

You want the actual defender tier list? Go to the pokemon list page, order by max CP and remove the ones that are not out yet.

Chansey is definitely a greater deterrent to prestigers than attackers. (I wish Niantic would change the prestige drop formula to fix this; but for now it is what it is.) A gym with a Chansey can be prestiged if there are 3+ similar CP Mon above Chansey with more than twice Chansey's CP; but you don't know if someone moron is going to put their 1800 Snolax right above your 1000 CP Chansey before level 10. Alternatively, who wants to volunteer to be first out after prestiging to level 9 or 10?
