Sooo much (besides a tracker)...
1.) Some benefit to training. Perhaps each Mon could accumulate exp that could be spent on power ups, iv buffs, moves, etc.
2.) Trading not just pokemon, but items and candies too.
3.) Make the STAB half the type counter
4.) Built in double resist for ghost/normal encounters.
5.) More user-friendly selection screen at gyms (drag reordering, select lower cp button).
The game still has a lot of untapped potential.
Oh so many things, most of which have been mentioned multiple times in the past by other people. One thing I don't feel gets enough attention though is game speed: IMO the catch and evolution animations should be shortened by at least 2/3 (and don't even get me started on how long combat takes, especially when facing off against high HP defenders).
- Fix gyms. The gym meta has stagnated to the point where gyms are level 10 and people prefer to use a second account to take the weakest out of an allied gym and replace it with their own. They need to fix the gym level system to make this impossible (e.g. gym levels up at 2/4/8/12/16/20/30/40/50 k, gym levels down at 2/4/6/10/14/18/22/32/42 k - this would mean this strategy would require 8k beat-down then 8k train up and would discourage it). Right now I can't bring myself to attack the level 10 gyms near my house because last time I did it I watched as so many players on my team who trained it up were knocked out by other reds who did no work and got to claim 3 weeks of gym rewards (mine started at the very top and was at the very bottom when the gyms were taken by another team).
- Fix tracking. Seriously. Give us a larger detection range and real tools to actually find the stuff we want if we're willing to work for it. Let them stay longer, and maybe only show on our Radar if it's feasible to get there running in time (to discourage driving).
- Balanced trading. As I commented elsewhere, trading between multiple accounts will wreck the game. We need trading to get the real pokemon feel though.
- Generation 2 needs to come soon - before too many players quit.
- Rotate spawns. It's fine to make some pokemon heavily regional. There are so many though which just don't show up in a large area compared to others. E.g. San Fran is drastically different than Toronto. We can't be expected to travel that far. It's fine if the stuff you want is a 30-60min drive away, but not when some stuff is almost non-existent in a large area (e.g. AFAIK there is no Grimer spawn in all of the greater Toronto area - they spawn randomly/rarely but there's no reliable spot to get them).
- Improve battling mechanics. This goes with somehow (e.g. spending candies to) changing movesets. More unique rewards to different battle scenarios. More stuff to encourage pokemon variety (the super effective multipliers are pathetic - make it the legit 2x and 0.5x and this game would have much better variety).
- Pokemon spawns should be less randomly leveled. In the games as you progressed you found stronger and stronger pokemon, consistently. This game it's a uniform distribution as was shown this week. That makes no sense. The distribution should be more heavily weighted to higher level pokemon for higher level players on the pokemon you would want to be higher leveled. I mean, no, don't suddenly make all my pidgeys level 30 and harder to catch (unless you'll also make them easier to catch), but also don't let me run 12 minutes to finally get my first Dragonite only for it to be a measly level 7.
I would love to see a weekly gym event. Mayb a 100/50/25 point tier and points awarded for various things such as..
-taking a gym down
-most attacks on a takedown
-most damage
-bonus for level 8.9.10
-kill shot
I think it would be awesome if that was a way to get Mew candies, stardust and gold. I think it would be so easy to integrate it and it would motivate more players to battle for gyms.
