Caught a shiny Magikarp - and almost transferred it!

After shopping at a grocery store, where I caught about 5 Magikarp, I saw an unusually colored Magikarp in the parking lot... and caught him with one razz berry and ultra ball (CP 124, Lv 25, IV 58%). I suspected it might be a shiny (PG finally upgraded to 0.59.1), but just to be sure I thought I'd try the transfer trick (attempting to transfer a shiny to the professor is supposed to give you a warning) - but guess what, I didn't get it!

It just gave me the standard question - Are you sure you want to transfer Magikarp to the professor? - and if I hadn't paid attention, I might have transferred this beauty!!! I almost fainted (well, not literally).

So be warned - don't expect a warning!!!

you will get extra warning if you choose yes from 1st warning

Well, I'm not gonna test that theory.

I didn't get a second warning. I transferred it like normal. I wouldn't waste 400 candy on a 58IV Magikarp. There's going to be a few weak Gyarados in gyms now. You can be pretty sure, if it's red, it's weak..

Magikarp aren't very rare here, I already evolved 3 gyarados and caught one (CP 135, but kept it anyway). And a shiny one will be a pretty sight in a gym.

I thought shinies can only be identified after you grab it and viewed on the battle screen - not flopping around in the wild

I don't use PG, but isn't that just the PokeGenie logo on the bottom left? I could be wrong, but it looks familiar from other posts I've seen on here.

That does look like the Pokegenie logo, but PG is only available on iOS and this person looks like he has an android phone. ?

Wow, just wow. I'm trying to warn others so they don't unintentionally transfer a shinykarp and get accused of spoofing because of the logo of my IV checker in the screen shot.

So sad....

I thought PokeGenie was always for iOS devises as far as I know. I have PokeGenie on my iPhone and don't have a screenshot like yours do showing the logo.
