Catch rate changes with missed throws?

This may be a pretty dumb question, but over time I have noticed a trend that after missing several throws (ie I throw a ball and it completely misses a pokemon, not that it hit it but didn't catch it) my next hit is almost always a catch. I noticed it especially today during legendary raids - I caught my first Lugia (now 1/4) after missing my first four balls in a row, my fifth throw was my first hit (curveball, but no accuracy bonus) and I caught it. Likewise, I also caught a Moltres after missing my first three balls, my fourth throw and first hit (this time a great throw and curveball) worked. After hearing about what a struggle it is to catch legendaries, it seems pretty coincidental to get both on my first hit - Lugia in particular was a huge pain for me, lots of misses on excellent curve balls.
Has anybody else noticed anything like this? Or is this purely coincidental and I had a really lucky day?

I think simple luck, after wasting 4-5 balls trying to figure out the right distance for moltres, I did not catch it in the next 5 balls all with catch bonus.

Then next raid, first throw no bonus.

i missed my first 3 moltres, caught my next 3, then missed last one. I haven't thrown well on any of them, lot of underthrows, a few overthrows. My 5th raid win said 1792 (network lag ended up giving me 1827). 7th raid win said 1792 again, but this time I believed it was going to be that bad...my increased experience of even hitting the target was negated by the thought I'd be wasting a storage slot. Lugia a bit different, 2/5, something I'd like to get each time--more good hits, pretty hard to secure

Haven't worked for me unfortanetely.

Side note:
That feel when you only geet a couple of balls to catch a legendary and you accidently drop the first one on the ground. Gets me every time hahaha
