Can you still catch shiny magicarp ?

According to the Niantic tweet yes shiny Magikarp are still here

It was not announced to be temporary so I would assume so.

Remember: They are only shiny AFTER you tap on them. Don't just look at map.

I assume/hope it is like Ditto: higher spawns with the event that it was released, still available at a lower rate later.

I caught one about 2 how ago. Crap IV and low cp. But he's shiny!

I caught a shiny magikarp after the tweet stating the event ended. I found it a little suspicious though because the shinykarp was followed by three Dratini. Thank you Niantic!
