Can you explain this apparent discrepancy regarding trading?

Game Press' guide on trading states:

"Trading with a friend has several features meant to keep players from abusing the system.
Players must be within 100 feet of each other.
...
If you trade a Pokemon from a far enough distance away, you get bonus Candy. Bonus caps out at 3 Candies at over 100km."

Isn't the "100 km" statement inconsistent with the "100 feet" limitation? The statements are probably both right, but apply in different situations, but I there is no explanation.

I'm 550km away from where I live this weekend. I'm keeping extra pokemon I might throw away bc if I trade a pidgey caught here for a low iv Ralts that someone else catches where we both live....drumroll...the person trading the Ralts gets +3 Ralts candy. I get the one Ralts candy bc I'd immediately transfer it and +3 pidgey candy..

The 100km is the cap on distance caught from each other in regards to bonus candy awarded.

Suggestion: change to "a Pokémon caught at a location a far enough distance away" in order to clarify.

ETA: Also, it's 100m, not 100 feet.

Thanks for the clarification. GamePress is better with its math than with its English. I think the GamePress team is great on math, but can be pretty poor sometimes on English. Also, I am curious: What is a Clurachan?

English is a second (or even third) language for many GamePress readers (I wonder if the same is true for the guide writers).
