Can a buddy fight in a raid?

I have 1 Tyranitar and I didn't want to lose access to him in raids by making him a buddy. But I could use a little more candy.

No problem. I've got a tyranitar as buddy and raid with it.

The only thing you can't do to a buddy is make him defend a gym.
