Breakpoints vs. Raid bosses
article then spreadsheet
For Bruno and other interested, is quite low on tsr reddit hot topics, so easy to miss.
P.s. I over powered my Golems with like 2 levels vs. Flareon and 3-4 vs. Arcanine :).

I do not understand how useful is that tool.
The sweet spot is not the same for the fast move and for the charge move.
The sweet spot varies with the raid boss (for Machamp: Lapras, Snorlax, Blissey).
There is no sweet spot for attacking gym since the species, the IV, the level, of the defending pokemon varies so much.
So there is no sweet spot.
Am I missing something?

The less damage a move does, the more important is this breakpoint. You should look for the quick moves breakpoint.

Indeed. For multi-purpose-attackers, it does not make much sense. It is interesting, if you have the same matchup repeatedly. At the moment, the most people in my town do only Tyranitar-raids. So this matchups breakpoint could determine the aim for level-up machamp.
Indeed, you should not overestimate breakpoints. They are a little piece of theorycraft, that sometimes shows importance.
It looks like the courrent meta is only focusing on raid battles with minimum focus on gym battles. So the tool helps you do decide wether it is worth powering up a raid counter past a certain level or if the stardust is better used on raising a new counter up to a certain level.
For gym battles such a tool would give you only a very rough estimate due to the huge amount of extra variables (courent CP, IV, Lvl, Moveset, ...) of the defenders.
this is more for those that have the following goals:
- solo as many of lvl 3 raid bosses (I did not quit on trying to solo a Flareon :) )
- do the most damage to level 4 so that you get + 3 balls damage bonus
- do the most damage to level 4 bosses so that you help your team get the best or second (we Valor are the fewest every time :), and when the other are double I settle for second team contribution :) ) score
- do the most damage to level 4 bosses so that you can do it in parties of 3 or 4 so that you can beat either only with your team mates or team up with other high level just for challenge
If those are not your goals then you don't need to sped time over analysing.
Razvan pointed out who would want to know this, but I did want to make a couple other points.
The tool is best used if you use the pokemon with the highest defense, as it will ensure it covers all the pokemon.
It is useful in trying to figure out how much more you may need to power up a pokemon with 10 atk as opposed to 15.
Finally, your damage does go up with each power up. Because of this, I think it makes sense to max out common raid counters, like Golem and Houndoom. I don't think anyone will regret maxing out a Golem or 2 if raids are going to be a big thing for them going forward.
I forgot that you kept requesting this :).
Anyway, took me like 1 hour and half, but now I have the individual info for my mons (with specific IV attacks) vs. bosses and I can make a power up plan.
And now I regret I made Espeon from eevees with 9 for Attack (on grounds that I need stamina). With that figure they are not worth level up past 30 for damage. But if 15, then 33-34 would have been a breaking point. I will not take an Espoen to level 37.5 to max damage on a Gengar or to lvl 35 for Machamp :).
But I will probably take one to 32 for Venusaur (again, with 9 Att IV).
