Blissey's odd coloration

So... With the new update, Blissey's colors seem to have changed a tiny bit. Check the link below and then the picture. The link shows "old" Blissey while the picture shows "current" Blissey.
"Old" Blissey seems to have a slightly darker pink upper body, arms, feet and egg pouch, along with a much whiter lower body. "Current" Blissey almost looks like she has a light pink "skirt" instead of pure white. She seems to be the only Pokémon with a noticeable color change!

(If it was the lighting, then shouldn't her lower body be closer to a black color, because shadows and whatnot, instead of pink?)

Chansey's coloration changed to a darker hue of pink with this update as well.

That's really odd! Chansey's darker but Blissey is lighter? I thought Niantic might've changed some Pokémon's coloration to better distinguish them from their shiny counterparts, thanks to the leak that revealed all of them are in the game's data already, but Blissey becoming lighter makes no sense, since her shiny also becomes lighter.

Venomoth's face looks more purple too, or maybe it's just me

Definitely does! Not only its face, but its body is significantly darker and pinker. Old Venomoth had a more blue-ish coloration.

After looking through other Pokémon, most if not every Pokémon seems to have a lighter and/or darker coloration since this update. I just caught a Vulpix and she was visibly lighter.

I've been checking all my pokemon and Blissey is not the only one with a change of colour. This is probably something to do with the recent shiny leak.

Yeah, after checking it myself I noticed the same. But Niantic doing this because of the shinies makes no sense, since Pokémon like Blissey herself had parts of their body lightened when their shiny already does that. Sounds counterproductive!

What we deem as counterproductive is perfectively logical in Niantic's eyes. Meanwhile more visual bugs have emerged since the update, like weird glitchy badges.

All Gen 1 and Gen 2 Pokemon that did not have a Shiny form were affected by the model change and to be honest they looked like rubber. I'm not sure if this is the way things go in XY but it's so unpleasant and offensive to the eyes.

I see... I agree it's a silly change, why lighten some Pokémon when their shinies already do?
And as far as I know, XY didn't change their colorations to these new ones, I just checked, it seems specific to Pokémon Go.

Yes, the last Eevee I caught was really pale, almost white, kind of a cream color. Then when I evolved it to an Espeon, the light purple color came out greenish. C'mon, Niantic, I don't know what anything looks like anymore. Just be consistent with colors, ....

(Sarcasm alert for the humor impaired.)

Maybe they did it so they can generate the shiny forms algorithmically rather than having to store the sprites for each one. Flip a few bits in the palette for the normal form and viola, you have the shiny form. This is how it was done on the original Gameboy games where storage was at a premium.

But it's not like the sprites for the game are taking up tons of memory. They can take a bit to load - try opening up your pokedex and scroll down to the bottom immediately - it will be several seconds before Rayquaza appears. But phones today have way more memory than they need for this. It might be for some simplification in the animation, though.

I don't think this is quite the case since 3D models exist separately for the shiny versions. Data miners always dig up shiny models as they get added into the game. Besides, Pokemon with pre-existing shinies had their models updated as well, see Gyarados as an example.
