Blissey
It's the best defender and second best attacker in the whole game. Why Niantic doesn't nerf it?

And one per gym, and basically useless attacking raid bosses. I walked Chansey perhaps 100 candies, just have a machoke now and I don't track its progress (except when I catch a high level Eevee, buddy to evolve additional Espeons). At some point a Blissey could be used as a slow attacker in a local gym to save potions and to save effective attackers for raids, about it though
I think Niantic has Blissey's attack stat set too high, and I certainly think Gamepress has overinflated its rating. A 10? Really? Maybe in the previous meta, when it was all about defense and gyms being level 10 Blissey towers. (Yes, I'm glad those days are over at least.) But in the new Raid meta? Blissey is the last thing you'd want to use as an attacker.
I have no idea what formula Niantic uses or how (or if) it's based on the stats from the main games. But I have always assumed that the stats in Go were somewhat based on -- or at least influenced by -- actual Pokemon stats. In the main games, Blissey has an Atk of 10 and a Sp.Atk of 75. So what formula did Niantic use to come up with an Attack of 129 in Go? But let's say they did on purpose for some reason, and the 129 attack stat is here to stay. What about that makes Blissey a Tier 1 attacker next to Dragonite?
I do agree that Blissey shouldn't be ranked 10/10 anymore now, neither should she be ranked as tier 1 attacker now because of the nature of raids.
Blissey was ranked in tier 1 because she was the most 'powerful' attacker i.e. could sweep through the most defenders, as shown in one of FuNKyShO's videos where a Blissey lasted through more Dragonites than even a Lapras, despite the lack of double SE.
The Blissey lasted through about 3.5 Dragonites, while the Lapras lasted through about 2.8 Dragonites.
I understand they have a formula that considers all stats when calculating overall CP. But what I'm curious about is how does Niantic arrive at the Attack stat specifically? I would assume they somehow apply a formula to the Atk and Sp.Atk stats from the main games, and no other stat (HP, Def, Sp.Def, or Spe) would affect the Attack stat specifically. Or maybe they do?
In comparing Blissey and Horsea, both with a Go Attack stat of 129, in the main games:
Blissey has Atk of 10 and Sp.Atk of 75.
Horsea has Atk of 40 and Sp.Atk of 70.
So how do they both have the same attack stat in Go? I'm genuinely curious.
I used to use her quite a bit. Not really anymore. She has no place in raids and most any old trash can take down gyms now. The whole thing is more potion efficient so she really lost that edge too.
So in summary the OP is talking about nerfing a mon with little real use on defense in most areas and no special use on offense except to waste your own time. In short a mon that really shouldn't be invested in at the time being. Nerf her? Lol
Yeah but she is only the 2nd best attacker when it comes to Gyms. She is useless in the raid department. But all that aside no Blissey is already easy enough to take down a nerf is not the answer. Also Blissey is the second best attacker because of what type of pokemon she is. So the only way to change that would be to make blissey a well... different pokemon.
