Black screen when starting gym battles and raids

I have an android 7.0 phone, LG K20 plus. When I enter a gym I do not see any pokemon avatars. When I hit the battle button, I hear the music start for the battle, but my phone either freezes at a black screen or at the battle screen with no enemy showing. It does nothing if I tap the screen. I checked and made sure my AR was not turned on for battles. It also freezes at a black screen when entering a raid the same way. I just moved to this phone. I have cleared cache, uninstalled and reinstalled, insured background data could run on PG,and both google apps. Ensured I had good signal, happens at every gym and every raid. Please help.
