The "big 19" explanation – episode 13 – Alakazam (part 2) – STAB or Effective

Part 1: https://pokemongo.gamepress.gg/q-a/big-19-explanation-episode-12-alakazam-part-1-glass-cannon

Focus Blast and Future Sight are all the best overall attacking charge moves for Alakazam, but which is better?
FB 125% effective 0% IV: 68 DPS
FS 125% effective 0% IV: 75.556 DPS
Future Sight is for dodgers, and Focus Blast is for the classic glass cannon users.

Fighting and Poison Pokémon are usually toothless on gym defense because of the base STA, excluding Muk and Machamp.
Thus, finding a pokémon that Future Sight is super effective against is hard, while Focus Blast (without STAB) being very easy because of those Blisseys and Snorlaxes.
Unless your Alakazam really has 0% STA IV and a low level, I would say Focus Blast is better because of the 0.8 multiplier of Zen Headbutt.
The "0.8 (edited: 0.7)" seconds won't affect that much when using the charge move just after the defender attacks.

The part 3 will be the Blissey time, and the new comparision method!

DPS for charged moves is irrelevant. To really compare, "time-corrected EPS" or weave damage with a fast attack is neccesairy.

True - Type Psychic is largely unresistet, and largely not super effective. So it is somehow reasonable to compare SE-Fighting moves with STAB Psychic moves.

Unless your Alakazam really has 0% STA IV and a low level, I would say Focus Blast is better because of the 0.8 multiplier of Zen Headbutt.

Either i have a black out, or this is pure none-sense. I do not feel like having a black out.

The 0.7 seconds won't affect that much when using the charge move just after the defender attacks.

If you refere to different cooldown of charged moves, they matter threefold:
(1) Time, you cannot dodge
(2) Time, your fast attack does not generate energy
(3) Time, your fast attack does not deal damage.

0,7 seconds is not small in respect to all of those points.

(1) This is true, you will get hit by one ZH during the time.
(2) You dodge the ZH after you use FS, so no energy (about 4 for weave) is generated during that time.
(3) 4.5 additional damage for weave, though still lose to FB. However, you will lose less Hit Points than using FB.

I've just evolved 2, one lv21 iv98 with pc/fb, one lv20 iv96 pc/fs. I want power up one to lv30 to fight blissey, snorlax & I do math myself that zam with pc/fb dealt more. So should I go with pc/fb? Thank you.

But zam has very low hp, so it dealt with more dmg & took more, or dealt less & took less. Which is better overall? It'll take me 70k dust to power it up to lv30, so I'm still quite considering.
P/S: I'm lv32 with 220k dust on stock. I only earn 30 - 35k dust per week on average.

If you only want to use your alakazam against blissey and snorlax, focus blast deals a little more circle damage.

If you want to fight other pokemon too, or if your concern is a short cooldown for better dodging performance [with psycho cut you have a good quick move for dodging already], future sight is the way to go.

I would invest in future sight, not even considering the non-stab-moveset.

Thank you. I only use him against blissey & snorlax, but I concern about charge move, maybe longer cooldown will make it worse in dodge. Finally, It will deal less damage because it's fainted sooner.
Okie, I maybe power up psycho cut/ focus blast one first. If I'm wrong, I will try the remain one.
