The "big 19" basic explanation – Vaporeon (week: 7-3) – Tips & Tricks
Vaporeon week: https://pokemongo.gamepress.gg/q-a/big-19-basic-explanation-vaporeon-week-7-1-solid-attackerdefender & https://pokemongo.gamepress.gg/q-a/big-19-basic-explanation-vaporeon-week-7-2-still-useful-some-ways
Vaporeon has an unusually high base STA stat, thus helps it from not being too easy to be killed.
For some players who don't dodge, they are still likely to lose the battles against high CP Vaporeons if they run out of quality Pokémon.
Tips when attacking/prestiging WG/HP Vaporeons:
*Use your quick moves consistently, don't dodge the quick attacks unless there is a big level difference.
*After you release one Solar Beam or two Thunderbolts, start counting Water Guns and be prepared for the dodge, the Vaporeon is likely to release Hydro Pump after 1–4 Water Guns. The most ideal situation is where the Vaporeon has about 40% of its Hit Points left.
**If you use electric Pokémon, switch to grass (with Solar Beam, Grass Knot or Power Whip) after the dodge.
*If the dodge bug occurs and you are trapped in a loop, simply switch to other Pokémon.
*You shouldn't dodge quick moves here, even if there is a big level difference. Charge your charge move as soon as you can before the Vaporeon releases its second Hydro Pump. You should be able to kill the Vaporeon, or at least 1 quick move away from killing it.
**For Power Whip users, full charge the bar before using the 2 Power Whips consistently instead giving the Vaporeon free energy.
Tips when attacking/prestiging WG/AT Vaporeons:
*Don't use pokémon which have Solar Beam as their charge moves.
**You may get hit by 2 Aqua Tails in a row if you don't use it at correct timings.
*It is better to use Victreebel (Leaf Blade) or Tangela (Power Whip or Grass Knot) here, Thuderbolt is an alternative if you are lack of grass attackers.
*Don't dodge all Aqua Tails, it is usually not necessary, but dodge as many as you can.
Tips when attacking/prestiging WG/WP Vaporeons:
*All you need to worry is the dodge bug.
*Everything that counters Vaporeon is likely to beat it.
However, per http://pokemongoinformer.com/pokemon-go-gym-overhaul-could-be-coming-this-week/, the gym is likely to get reworked after the rock event ends!
Ideal moveset for offense: Water Gun + Hydro Pump
Ideal moveset for defense: Water Gun + Aqua Tail
Wanted moveset for defense: Bubble + Aqua Tail (dealing more damage)
If the gym doesn't get a big rework, next week will be Blissey!
