The "big 19" basic explanation – Rhydon (week: 10-2) – On defensive purposes

Rhydon week: https://pokemongo.gamepress.gg/q-a/big-19-basic-explanation-rhydon-week-10-1-bad-quick-moves-gym-rework

Rhydon's quick moves are useful for defense, but they are obviously not the best ones. Their total damage output is decent, the problem is their medium EPU.

Rock Smash only generates 10 EPU, well, at least better than Iron Tail.

Mud Slap only generates 12 EPU, well, at least it has STAB, and is almost being double better than Iron Tail.

Mud Slap is clearly superior to Rock Smash, it generates energy faster and gains STAB.

Earthquake is superior to Megahorn in the versions with dodge bugs. Megahorn is very arguably superior to Earthquake in the other versions because of its faster animation and yellow flash time. Earthquake is very easy to dodge.

Stone Edge is clearly the best, dodging it is almost impossible if you are using another Rhydon to attack, and it also surprises Vaporeon as a bonus since Hydro Pump's yellow flash comes so early, it may hit before the Vaporeon can dodge.

Be aware of Rhydon's attack stat when you see one in a gym.

The gym will close after June 16, so if you want to battle, go for it before June 16. This period will stay for an unknown (not Unown) amount of time.

Next post, will come on July 6, the anniversary. Snorlax? Maybe. Gym rework? Well, we will see.
