B/HP vs DT/HP Gyarados?

For offense, which one you like more? why?

I haven't got DT/HP one yet. Therefore, I really want to see if I should pursue this moveset for a better attacker than my B/HP one.

Thanks.

Only just, though. Bite is arguably better for dodging reasons. On defense it's a different story

Dragon Tail does more damage, but for me it is a similar case than Dragonite, I prefer quick moves to be the quicker as possible to be able to dodge easily any of the defender moves and attack as many times as posible between their moves so I can generate energy efficiently.

For that reason if you already have a high cp and iv Gyarados with B/HP I won't go for a Dragon Tail one (at least for offense), it will do more dps, but it won't do more damage before fainting.

You can go for a DT one for defense (Gyarados is not a great defender anyway but he will guarantee a high gym placement)

Dragon Tail/Hydro Pump is the best if you are not trying to dodge at all. Bite/Hydro Pump is only 0.45% damage behind it though and it is much easier to dodge with Bite.

The official answer is that B/HP is better if you dodge and DT/HP if you don't.
I have both movesets and DT/HP suits me better because

1) it wrecks more damage quickly, and the only problem I have against 9+ level gyms is time (I can't devote more than 30' to gym fighting, and I play alone). Sure B/HP with dodging allows more damage before fainting but it's more time consuming.

2)DT/HP can kill a high level Blissey, while with B/HP it's more tricky.

3)I'm an expert dodger, but in my area the app lags and can't fully rip the benefit of dodging.

So my strategy: Use the strongest dps movesets and shred a gym to pieces ASAP. The only disadvantage is that I use many potions (which I can spare because I play casually). The bottom line is: the movesets and your overall strategy depends on what resources you have available

Thanks for all your opinions and experience sharing.

Luckily I have two 100% B HP gyarados, so it is fine and no hurry for DT HP one.
