Better Mewtwo Tank - Lugia (Ex or DT) or Blissey

I feel pretty good with my Mewtwo team, especially given the size of raid groups in my suburban area. Did have one question. Should I want to use a tank in the sixth spot, with its resistances and high defense, how does Lugia compare to Blissey? I'm asking both in general and against a focus blast Mewtwo. I have a leveled up Extrasensory/Sky Attack Lugia that I've used for Machamp raids. How does Extrasensory compare with Dragon tail attack Mewtwo?

Obviously Lugia is better DPS than Blissey, so if they are close in survivability, edge to Lugia. I think the high defense should really help against confusion Mewtwo.

P.S. I'm traveling with no computer, so I can't really run any numbers myself.

Please, no Blissey for raids... we just kick those guys out from our group :)

Tbh Lugia isn't too bad and could perfectly fit in the 6th slot for a Mewtwo raid.

Blissey 129 attack stat with Pound STAB goes to 155.
Lugia 193 attack state. Extrasensory brings it down to 137 so Blissey will literally do more damage than Lugia unless your using Dragon Tail.

Lick / Hyperbeam Snorlax for your 6th place anchor.

BTW, I didn't get through my 3rd member of my Mewtwo team. At our location all approx 40 of us split up into 3 teams, and I had about 15 in mine and we finished in less than 100 seconds.

Lick/Hyper Beam Snorlax is the best anchor for Shadow Ball Mewtwo.

Sky Attack Lugia is the best for Psychic or Focus Blast Mewtwo.

I won't go into all details as this topic has already been discussed in detail in this forum. To make it short: unsubstantiated polemic aside, you will find that a p/hb blissey compares favorably to a sky attack lugia (lugia's quick move makes surprisingly little difference on its performance against mew2) IF it reaches its highest break point for pound, which would be at level 37 for a blissey with 15 atk iv. In addition, lugia's super high resistance against a fb mew2 means that it will receive very limited energy from the boss for its charge move, unlike blissey.

Bottom line: both are viable in their role, although different in detail.

Now, experience shows that an inevitable follow up question will appear in this thread: wtf are we even discussing this!?! No self-respecting player would ever waste any resources in such a blissey but invest in tyranitar instead!!!

I therefore take the liberty of answering that one as well if I may. First, blissey will perform differently in a fb mew2 battle than tyranitar and may end up dealing more damage than the latter in case of unfortunate timing of mew2's charge move, as anyone whose tyranitar was instantly killed by the first focus blast of a boss alakazam can confirm (and good luck dodging charge moves in group raids). Second, the assumption that no one will have such high level blissey in stock anyway seems premature in my eyes. I know several players who in the old gym days had cultivated one or more high level blisseys as gym defenders. And in these pre-tm days, not every one of those blisseys had dazzling gleam either (not that it matters anyway, you now can tm any blissey into p/hb if you so desire).

So I for one had a blissey which only needed to ascend two levels to be suitable for a fb mew2 raid available as of the moment the arena system was re-worked. And I am sure I wasn't alone. What I did not have at that time were high level tyranitars - I only had one at level 20 for my pokedex as I did not care for them as defenders. I have more of them now given that I suddenly developed a need for them. But they have cost me a lot more in these last months than the blissey I have now on stand-by in my avengers team if ever duty calls him.

exactly, ppls hate for blissey has clouded their judgement because 'all' things considered, a high iv blissey is actually very good in some matchups.

In some ways blissey as an attacker is the pogo equivalent to homosexuality: the thought of it seems to provoke the manliness of some fellow raiders.

In simulations against Confusion + Focus Blast, Lugia is more survivable, lasting around 45 seconds while Blissey lasts around 30 with no dodging.

Against Psycho Cut + Focus Blast, Lugia lasts around 66 seconds and Blissey 53.

Lugia is more survivable against Focus Blast than a Blissey and deals more damage. If you're running several Tyranitars, you don't need a Blissey as an anchor against the other movesets where Blissey is more survivable than Lugia, because Tyranitar resists everything else that you probably won't even get to it.
