I had a very fun experience, but in terms of sheer gains, I think the best event by far was the Gen 3 event. It was a very bold move COMPLETELY replacing all other spawns, and made rare, 10k Pokemon hatches, such as Anorith, Lileep, Trapinch, Beldum, Ralts, and Bagon that don't nest relatively common in the wild, for a time.

Also made Wailmer spawn super often in otherwise Magikarp-populated areas.

Completely agree. People think this is the best event only because it’s Dratini. No one was this excited for Pikachu day.

Gen3 event on the other hand was the bomb. Gen3 everything. Got a lot of my Bagon/Beldum candy and most of the Gen3 dex done.

An event that lasts just 3 hours & excludes all those who have to work (like me!) is NOT the best event, infact, I would say one of the worst

Best Community Day event or event in general?

Either way I'm not sure if I'd put it at first place.
Counting all the events, this was fun, but by no means the best.

As for a Community Day event, it's a bit more difficult.
I don't really need the stardust, but getting Dratini candies were nice seeing as Dragonite is a useful Pokemon.

Last CD event we had double XP, which I needed, but Pikachu wasn't as exciting.

And shiny Dratini vs shiny Pikachu - it's tought, but I might go with Dratini as it was something completely new.

Anyway, I still highly enjoyed the event. I think Community Day is a really nice idea. Yes, it is hectic because the time is quite limited, but that's part of the fun.
Last time I evolved like crazy to gain as much XP as possible (got over 760k during that day). This time I could focus more on catching Pokemon, especially Dratini.

Throughout the day I managed to get:
* ~200k XP
* ~150k stardust
* gold badge for Dragon Tamer (last one I needed)
* ~160 Dratini, 10 of which were shiny (three Dratini with 91 IV, noe of which were a shiny)
* 400+ caught Pokemon
* loads of Dratini candy. I started at about 220 and despite evolving four Dratini, I still have 902 candies.

So yeah, I enjoyed the event. Spent it at a mall with some local players I know. Loads of players out, so we easily got like 100+ players for a Rayquaza raid in the middle of the event.
The people who were only there to do some shopping weren't as happy. I heard quite a few less than happy opinions about us taking up so much space.
But hey, if you are going to a mall that is known to attract loads of Pokemon players during event, well then you might be wise to pick another day to do your shopping ;)

P.S. They handed out armbands in your teams colour, which was nice. They also gave out badges for your player level, but only had like "Level 10, 20, 30, 40" and seeing as I am "only" 39" I could only get the "Level 30" one. Slightly disappointing and hardly something I will wear. I haven't been 30 since like before last summer, so that badge is a little too late.

Best event so far indeed. Enjoyed the hype I missed. Was enjoyable for the moment it lasted.

I had a lot of fun. I got my Draco Meteor Dragonite, a shiny Dragonite, and almost enough candy to evolve my 96% IV Dragonair. Also caught a nasty Kyogre. Looking forward to the next event. Granted they offer a decent special Pokemon.

I had a night shift until 7 am, so I slept through the event.
I'm a bit salty about the fact that it took me more than a year to get a Dnite (I'm at 7 Dratini seen, 7 caught), while many people who had some free time during the event caught more than 100.

Maybe I'll stick around until Gen 4, but it doesn't seem like Niantic are ever going to try to make this game be fun for everyone, like the main series games are.

Quite a shame really.

It was okay, I guess. I didn't really need the Dratini candies, as I already have two maxed out Dragonites (not from the event), which is more than enough for me. Nevertheless, I always welcome events with a multiplier in stardust, so that at least gave me a reason to play a bit for this event.

The best event, in my opinion, was the Global Challenge event during Thanksgiving. It was the best because Niantic set out goals for everyone to collectively achieve, and rewards were unlocked upon completing those goals. Niantic tried this for GOFest, but that didn't go too well. But, it worked out for the Thanksgiving event. I'm hoping future events imitate this kind of style.

I got a 100% shiny!

Good enough for me. Back to my retirement.

As for events, all events should be like a quest (getting a draco meteor shiny was the quest here)

I went to a harbor near my city where Dratini normally spawned and woah did I see a lot. I total I caught 10 shinys in one day. Also got a really good Rayquaza with all the people there. A lot of stardust too. Ended the day with almost 100,000 (I spent a lot in the middle half of event) the best event has been teh all gen 3 spawns though

I enjoyed the first Community Day more.... it brought the local players together and the first local legendary raids took place. We got several people on my Discord server (I surprised myself and started it!) and are now able to do t4 and 5 raids in town. I guess that made it special, and nothing would come look close.

This time, I had hoped we would meet more local players... the few we met weren't interested in joining a group. And everyone we knew ran off in different directions chasing Dratini (the special mon was just too good this time).

Maybe I expected too much.... I had hoped for more shinies (got 2, but a friend got 8!) I should be happy with 2 DM dragons, but I had hoped to meet more local trainers.

Still, I'm looking forward to the next Community Day. I just won't set my expectations so high :D

P.S. Something funny did happen. A group of boys, about 8 to 14, were playing in the park when one of the younger boys suddenly cried out, "I got a shiny! This has made my life complete!" (As it turned out, he would get 3 more.)

It was a nice event. Even managed to get an ex-invite by pausing from Dratinis and deafeating a Kyogre. However, the Equinox event was far better with almost 30% of all eggs being 10k, and hatching mainly relevant pokemons. By far, a more useful event than this.
