Best defenders for the new gym system?
Which defender would be the most effective in the new meta?
CP is now irrelevant, only time to beat and defensive DPS matters.
Blissey will still be the best, followed by Snorlax.
Lapras and Tyranitar will be good choices because of their defensive DPS and tankiness.
Chansey, Steelix and Umbreon take time to beat.
Vaporeon and Rhydon come just after.
Dragonite, Golem, Slowbro, Gyarados are a little below.
Any other ideas?
Blissey
Snorlax
Lapras
Chansey
Tyranitar
Steelix
Umbreon
Vaporeon
Rhydon

This is happening apperently. SE hits will deal more damage than they used to. Imo this will seriously hinder pokemon with 2x weaknesses to common moves. Therefor, Tyranitar and Rhydon will prob be easily beatable for most seasoned players.
However, they are still good defenders if the attacker decides not to use pokemon that exploit their 2x weaknesses.
EDIT: I expect basicly anny pokemon with good defensive stats to perform well. (as long as they don't have 2x weaknesses ofc.) Some examples: Wheezing, Muk, Slowbro, Tentacruel, Hypno...
New additions to my defending team...
- Crobat
- Bellosson (I am worried about those fire attacks)
- Hypno
- Nidoking
- Porygon2
- Raichu
- Slowking
- Tentacruel
- Tangela
- Miltank
- Azumarill (really low attack, but gotta try him out)
- Steelix
My current defenders that should get a huge boost in visibility...
- Muk
- Jolteon
- Lapras
