Best Defender: Network Error
Ever since the gym rework has been out I've been getting the "Network Error" popup while doing anything with gyms.
Luckily it doesn't happen often during raid battles, but when my Pokemon faint it takes up to 10 seconds for the system to automatically switch them out.
While fighting gyms I oftenly get the "Network Error" which wastes about 30 seconds of my time each time it pops up, and then the fight continues normally until the next popup. Sometimes it just doesn't continue and I have to restart the game. I get back into the gym and either have to start fighting all over again or there's like 5 seconds left for me to take down the Pokemon.
My character is always near the gym and I haven't had this problem before the rework, seems like the servers are having extreme loads and can't process all the activity, and Niantic is not fixing it.
Does anyone else have this problem and is there a solution or a relative fix that I can do on my side? Because this is the main reason I don't battle gyms anymore, it's too frustrating.

Some gym give me that problem also, but the majority of gym still running fine for me ( around 20% bad gym)
What make me salty is the network error gym is 2 gym closest to my house, 1 is around 50 metres, one is 300
At best you can spin it, but other than that either it give me network error or freeze the game
I also have several problems when interacting with gyms - such as the screen freezing or the app crashing.
I have also noticed that since the gym update that my battery drains much faster.
I think that these issues are connected and that everytime you interact with a gym a huge amount of data is transferred (you see all the defenders together, with their motivation stats, time in gym, plus the pokestop data and related information that gets updated for the gym badges, etc.). My theory is that the servers can't always handle this exchange of data (depending on how busy the servers are with the rest of the game) and this causes the various problems that have been reported.
Just my 2 cents worth . . .
Yesterday I was helping a friend with a Flareon raid. Around 25 seconds left and about <5% health left I got the network error. Didn't think much of it as it appeared that everything was working correctly, my attacks are lowering his HP, my HP is going down, counter is still counting.
Two hydropumps later, it appears we have killed him (no health in bar). Then the red banner disappears, he regenerates that 5% back, I do not regenerate, he uses a flamethrower, I die, and watch the final few seconds tick off the clock as the game is slow to load my next guy.
Fortunately, I was able to reboot the raid and we killed him much quicker the second time (I rearranged the order of my guys - got rid of the rhydons). But that could have been a potentially frustrating error under different circumstances, not to mention I had to waste all those revives and potions.
At the next raid, my friend's app crashed in the middle of a Ttar raid. He was able to get back in on time, but if there hadn't been 11 people there we might have needed a second chance AGAIN.
