Best attacking moveset for Tyranitar?

Both B SE and Cr are listed as A, but it seems like SE is by far the more desired moveset by the people here. Has anyone both sets and can compare them? SE is obviously way better for dodging, but as I usually attack in a group of 2-4 people, I care more about what wrecks opponents faster. C is more energy-efficient, but Dark is a worse attacking type in the current meta then Rock, idk.

I don't have either, but I desperately want a b/se one. I'm sure crunch is fine against Snorlax and Blissey, but I really want se for Gyarados and Dragonite. Golem is a little squishier than I would like, and Rhydon's ms is slow and NVE. One with b/se would really complete my team.

BS and CR has the same rates dealing with damage effectiveness but in the current Meta BS is more useful than Cr since some of the top defender has weakness vs Stone Damage... Especially those flying type.

I believed some sites and spreadsheets rated B/CR at abt 96% of total overall dps as compared to 100% on the B/SE moveset. Or u can also check out pokebattler, which if against a lvl 30 Blissey, takes around 4 secs longer.

I have a B/SE tyranitar, but not a B/CR, so can't compare yet. But I've used B/CR gyarados before. B/SE is much more usable if u wanna dodge. CR actually has a very long cooldown for a 3-bar, and since u use it more often, there's a much higher risk of getting hit by either specials or quick moves.

Here's a video on gyarados movesets ( https://youtu.be/mVg0oON5uBQ ) with B/CR. In the last battle with the snorlax using dodging all as much as possible, unfortunately, B/CR took the most dmg, plus the fact that it's the lowest dps moveset for gyarados.

That was really helpful, I apreciate your knowledgeable posts as always! :)
Have B SE too and I quite honestly enjoy it a lot to attack with it.

For your situation you may be better off with Bite/Crunch because SE being a 1-bar move takes a while to charge, and by then the battle may well be over. With Crunch you at least get a few shots off to deal decent damage together with your friends.

For soloing, SE wins because (1) overall DPS is slightly higher and (2) it is more dodge-friendly.

However on the other hand Crunch is a 3-bar move and some battles can end sooner than SE because SE doesn't quite finish off the defender and you need the equivalent damage of 1 or 2 more Crunches rather than charging up the full SE bar. This depends of course on the defender and the specific encounter but it does happen.

Hope the above is useful.

In fact it really is, definitely makes sense, thx for your input! :) Oguess I try to gamble on a Bite C one, as soon as I have candy, instead of pushing my two existing ones further than 30.

If moves change, it might be nice to have dual dark moves vs. Bite/Stone Edge...Also, cooldowns can/will change with the next move update so in a way, having a Bite/Crunch one, even though not as high DPS or dodge friendly would make me feel I have my best dark attacker...

Would be nice if Tyranitar can learn a rock quick move...

I'd be very happy when/if I get a Tyranitar w/o Iron Tail or Fireblast.

Well, I doubt, that these two sets will become bad all of a sudden. Despite of move changes, the characteristic of say DB DC stayed the same, although it is not quite the same set as it was in the beginning. It deals the most damage for Dnite, if you want to dodge amap and will most likely still do so after upcoming changes.

Both are great. By pretty much every metric B/SE outperforms B/C currently. However both will have great uses in the future but especially all dark movesets on a stat monster like Tyranitar.

Right now since attacking seems to be so largely about taking down Blissey B/SE gets a nod for dodgability as well as huge damage. Both movesets will only increase in value as time passes as long as Niantic doesn't nerf them. Even B/FB may find itself a nice niche. It does great damage too.

B/FB would probably be best attacker into Metagross in gen 3...(Steel/Psychic I think)...

If CP is still a thing in gyms, it'd place highly...

Steel resists Dragon so Metagross would take NVE damage from Dragonite.

IT/C is his best defensive move set, so I wouldn't be too disappointed with that. I have only 1 Tyranitar and he has IT/C, and I'm rather pleased.
