Aren't the Charge Move DPS "wrong"?

I feel like the DPS shown for charge moves is completely irrelevant. The total time the move takes is the time it takes to charge up the energy and the cast time, not just the cast time. Of course the problem is that the "charge time" depends on which quick move the Pokemon has and therefore makes it harder to put a specific number on it (as well as damage received). Anyway, is it really relevant to show the DPS? I understand that the recommendation of which moves are better uses a full simulation and therefore capture the issue I decribe, but still ... am I wrong about this?

DPS alone is a bad metric by which to measure a charge moves' effectiveness.

It is an indicator, but should not be looked at in isolation. Power, cooldown (also wrongly named - move duration) and number of charge moves per full bar should all be considered.

Even then...it is wrongly named, it should be 'Power Per Second'

You are right. It would be more meaningful to calculate Cycle PPS, which depends on the quick moves also.

See this thread (if you have time):

No they arent wrong. Takes brain to understand but you seem to have what it takes. Post is pointless.

Then the real question. Is there a simple metric that could be used that would be better? I haven't analyzed the quick moves to see how much they differ in EPS (energy per second). Perhaps it would be worthwhile to use cycle DPS given some standardized quick move EPS. Thoughts?
