For those that don't know what this is referencing, look at gender diferences between Pikachu and Raichu

I don't have the new update yet either, but in the previous version going by the tails, all of my Pikachus are male and all of my Raichus are female. I don't have enough candy to evolve one to test if this gender split is an incredible coincidence in which Pikachus I have chosen to evolve or if Niantic just didn't realized there were gender differences when they selected the 3D models. The second seems more likely though.
