Are these baby pokemons good for anything?

Can someone tell me if these new baby pokemons good for anything?
They appear to be as useless as common pokemons.
If I evolve a Pichu, do I get Pikachu?

Update: looking at what others hatched, I find these baby Pokémons are only goood for getting candies cuz can not battle or evolve these babies.

I've hatched a number of eggs that I caught since the announcement, and nothing has come up yet. I'm sure as soon as someone hatches one of the new mons (particularly Pichu) we'll know if they can be evolved.

As far as use, yeah the writing is kind of on the wall for that.

They can beat Dragonite !!!

In term of cuteness.

As you can see in this photo, togepi can be evolved. I'm guessing that once you evolve him you unlock all the 2nd gen dex (?); idk, until someone find him and maybe evolve him we won't know.
