Are the new 15 minute warnings for Gym raids extremely counterproductive because you can't get to them in time. And is the current extended raid time of 90 minutes also too counter-productive?

I'm finding it difficult to get to the current set of raids within the 15 minute window and after the few people who manage to get there as the egg hatches all interest is lost in the Gym. I hope this will not be the case for MewTwo? Otherwise this too will be a non event :-(

Edit I should have said Black Eggs - Sorry

It's allegedly only for the current batch of birds.

I can imagine it can be a bit of a nightmare for those used to raiding on a whim (like in a big city), but for our environment, where raids generally have to be planned for them to succeed, the current system actually works quite well.

As soon as the boss is known (which is nice and short), we start the planning process on social media (Discord and Facebook) and the extended second-stage gives ample time to arrange groups, sometimes even multiple ones for the same raid.

Perhaps there's a middle ground. Would a 30 minute egg be better for your circumstances?

I was thinking the same thing. I have similar raiding habits, living in a medium sized city, where raids have to be planned with local community, which is quite reactive on Discord. This is also why sometimes I'm lazy about this and just solo T3 raids. But if the OP is living in a large city where raids just happen at raid hatch with all people that gathered there by themselves, I guess this might be a nightmare indeed. It's good to improve playing conditions of a part of the community, but not at the expense of others.

Coming back to the original hatching time but keeping the extending raiding time could be nice :) mayyyyyybe not for gyming though.

Agreed. For rural players, this is so much better. Easier to get people to show up when the boss is known. 90 minutes is usually plenty of time to organize.

At least 30 minutes to put on my shoes gather some water bottles, change from house trousers and make the 15 minute walk! - Can't do it, and there is almost never a second raid - ever here in a BIG city and that's on the the Sky Walk - mega busy!

Not in my community. Raid groups are usually set 30-60 minutes after the egg hatches. So, it's plenty of time to organise people comfortably.

Not so now only 15 minutes - 90 minutes of non productive raid time :-( - who thought of this insane idea?

I think you did not understand. It is the best system when multiple bosses share T5 during the same period. You don't have to wait one hour to find out that the boss is not interesting and you can move on to the next gym.
People in my city report the raid, they set a time between 20-40 minutes after hatch and this way everyone interested has plenty of time to get to the raid and organise.
Everyone is happy with this system. It's a smart move from Niantic.

Your problem seems to be that you are not well coordinated with the rest of the players in your city. Try to find out if they have any group of discord, etc and join them to organise yourself better.

I like it, but chances are this will go away for Mewtwo. Niantic knows which T5 raids are popular (i.e. not Regirock) and with four T5 bosses in the mix they figured most people would like to know what the boss is sooner rather than later.

At least we get the eggs as a warning, they could go back to the no egg 2-hour raid window.

Not if anyone can't actually get there - This is a city of 10+m people -raids are poorly attended even when the egg is hatching, and that is at the most popular destinations. Then almost no attendance whatsoever for the next hour and a half...

Are you part of an organized chat or anything? I find it hard to imagine a city that large not having a Discord, WhatsApp, or an equivalent with some semblance of order/schedule.

I did put out my full trainer code and location - CBD Bangkok and was overwhelmed within minutes when I requested friends - I now do have about 10-12 friends - that took some time to manage!

Yes I am aware of discord and yes I use it to communicate with a friend that is remotely located - but you cannot use this within a mega city it simply cannot be managed.

I need at least 30-60 minutes warning of a black egg raid and for that raid to last just about 15-30 minutes to generate the necessary level of interest. Otherwise - there is no interest unless incredibly lucky.

I suspect the figures for this event will prove this point i.e compare them with the recent Ho Ho event 3 hours max half an hour warning ! and mobbed! and I bought extra raid passes (above the 5 free ones on the day). to find extra gyms! - I think it was Ho Ho but could have been another legendary.

I guess I wouldn't know because I don't live in a Bangkok huge city, but don't they divide it up by zones? Hell, even my city of less than 600k people has different Discord chats depending on where you live (east side, downtown, various channels for the different suburbs).

If you're talking about the 3-hour window for Moltres day, that's completely different. That's an established event with determined times well in advance, multiple in-game notifications leading up to it, plus two identical events previously so there's no question about how the raids appear. After Articuno day groups pretty much had established raid routes, met up at a gym before it started and hopped to it.

I hope it stays like this, it has changed the gym meta pretty much, metagross and other defenders that counter things like machamo (which otherwise are complete jokes on the 1 hour limit) are actually quite tough to deal woth on that clock. Plus an extra 45 minutes or legendary raids when I have glass, i'm never going to say no to that

When it is not even worth buying raid passed (with cash) for the one and a half hour limit - I assume we are talking about black egg raids here?

I personally find this system better, especially for having multiple Tier 5 bosses, for the reasons already mentioned in this thread.

It has also reduced the opportunism around turning gyms to different colors for team control during the raid egg phase, which is probably better for harmony across teams, but a bit worse for gym turnover and free coins.

It keeps teams in gyms in power - free of charge for one and a half hours.During which no black egg raids actually take place - no 10-20 players present... Pink eggs fine some yellow eggs fine BUT not legendary...

I'm having the opposite reaction - I LOVE this change. I love how I can potentially wait across 3 Weather Cycles to decide when to do a Raid Boss. We've already used this twice to take down Golem and Snorlax when they were Weather Boosted and in the case of Golem, where it was Weather Boosted but so were our best counters (waiting for Sunny weather).

I really hope that it stays this way. Or at the very least, it goes to a 30min Egg and 75min raid. The 1hr Egg and 45min Raid was annoying and frankly, it goes against part of the goal of the game which is to get people out and moving. I don't want to wait in an area for 60min to see if the raid boss is going to be something I want to do. Nor do I want to tie myself to a more general location in case that raid boss is one I want to do so I can get back in time to do it. The 15min timer is awesome for this; I take a small break, catch a few more Pokémon, see what the raid boss is and then have 90min to do something about it.

Ahh that's better so not black egg raids then... These require between 10-20 players present to accomplish.

Not necessarily. Yesterday I took down two Moltres and an Articuno with four people.

Currently his points still apply to the T5 eggs since there's 4 potential bosses. Obviously it's less of a point when the birds leave since Mewtwo will be the only boss.

It is very tough going with with the 4-6 players, and has been done on occasion it all works out - Here in the city of Bangkok 10m+ we do not know each other. Yes you can enter into a raid with four people and find yourself alone as they bottle out at the last second - one raid pass down the toilet... :-) Or it can workout if they are astute players.

Like you say, it is a bit tough to make yourself available and reach the raid place within 15 mn. Previously in my city there would always be enough people around hatching time to run the raid. I have noticed a bit of chaos in the first few days, maybe because of that or because of people choosing their level 5 boss and then being more spread instead of gathering to whichever egg is ready.

but now people got a bit adjusted and actually take advantage of the 90 mn to schedule raids 1h ahead. I think it is really useful now to have time to choose your raid. However unsure how that would work for unique raid boss, we will see soon.

Here in Bangkok the 90 minutes have been in my opinion a failure - and not because of the boss or selecting from them - longer warning times, shorter raid times (for Black Eggs) are needed - Fine for 90 minutes for other eggs.

Yes people are adjusting - I think less interest. After all a legendary candy is just like a rare candy, but for a specific Pokemon. :-) But if you can't catch them then you will never be able to catch them all :-)

I think it’s great. You don’t need to get a group together with the Birds. You can dou both Moltres and Articuno, and Zapdos can be trio’ed. It’s fun not having to wait for the egg to hatch, and driving around with two friends taking down legendarys. No group to wait for. Ive saved a lot of time with the current system.

Agreed it comes down to community size. Among the toughest Pokemon is Kyogre. That's tough I am only level 31 and missed that event but I saw a level 37 + a full house having troubles - especially with catching him...
