Arcanine - Wild Charge. My new project?

I currently have a 96% FF/Flamethrower Arcanine close to 2700CP sitting in a gym. I love putting him in there for diversity but also because he hits HARD. Not many people see Arcanines anymore and Flamethrower can come pretty quick.

Now with the gym changes I'm thinking of powering up my other 96% Arcanine which actually has Snarl and Wild Charge (90 damage compared to FT 70) and is supposed to be the best defensive moveset. Would hit effectively into Water mons trying to attack and likely catch them off guard a bit.

I could get this new Arcanine close to 2700 as well. I'm starting to save dust and this guy might be my first pokemon I power up when the new gym changes go live.

I actually have a lvl 20, 97.8IV Arc with Snarl/Wild Charge that I just yesterday marked for power up! I just need to go get candy for it. (I've been ignoring Growlithe for a while. Regrettably)

that wild charge is a great move in general. it sucks he doesnt get stab with it which kind of minimizes its damage, but it does indeed hit hard.

Yeah no stab kinda sucks but the damage difference (90 for WC and 70 for FT) should make up for it plus it hits effectively into water which is a bonus.

I'd hate to miss a dodge on a WC. I may just have to power up my Arcanine and test him out against a Vape.

I personally hope this next gym rework could make type effectiveness more important, as it was in the original games. It'd make battling more strategic imo, and interesting coverage moves could become relevant.

Lucky I have evolved 4 trying for S/WC for defence to help with diversity.

I also have a S/Wc I have been holding onto waiting to see if I should power up. The one reason I hesitate is because Rhydon and Golem would both resist it and be super effective into Arcanine.

This is a good point. I guess we will have to see when the gym changes go live, if people would be more prone to bring a Rhydon into a battle or a Vap.

I'm not sure there would be much change/difference with a Flamethrower or a WC Arcanine vs a Rhydon. So since I still put my FF/FT Arcanine in gyms I would probably put a WC one in.

The last two I evolved had Fire Fang, WC and Crunch, and a wild-caught lv30 68% one has your moveset. Guess I'll have to settle with one Bite/FT for attack until a decent puppy nest appears.
