Aqua Tail Vaporeons

I've never heard that much talk of Aqua Tail on Vaporeons for defense. It seems to me that it'd be pretty optimal since it has two bars and does decent damage. I have a 100% Vaporeon with Aqua Tail which I will obviously max out regardless, I just wanted to know how well it will truly preform on defense with AT. I'd love to hear your guy's thoughts on defensive vapes

Does well on defence. Arguably slightly inferior to water pulse on defence, but a great attacker too. I love the versatility of Aqua Tails.

More versatile, being able to be used offensively and defensively, and personally I find it more annoying to fight against than Water Pulse, since Water Pulse is often long enough to use a charge move during it and dodge the next attack.

While for some reason Aqua Tail's cooldown seems much lower than it's actual time, comparable to Body Slam or Dragon Claw, and often means I take 1 or 2 full damage Water Guns if I want to use my own charge move, which somewhat makes up for the overall less DPS it has compared to a defending Water Pulse Vaporeon if you're the type of player that dodges every move.

Aqua tail is hardly talked about for defense because water pulse trumps it. The bar for water pulse fills up so quickly that the AI spams the charge attack which hits harder than the quick attack and most trainers are not going to take the time to dodge it. Over time, that damage adds up. Aqua tail, trainers can easily dodge it then spam quick attacks.

Not sure if most trainers will not dodge water pulse. It's not hard to dodge anything really. All the so called "hard to dodge" moves such as blizzard, bubble, earthquake, body slam, heatwave, etc aren't all that hard to dodge.

100% agree. I think there's too much talk about moves that are somehow hard to dodge.

I suggested on this site about maybe Niantic to delete the dodge flash for trainers that are level 30+ when attacking gyms and I almost got my head chopped off here. Haha. But leave dodge flash on prestiging because it's "training".

Removing the flash is such a god idea! It's a shame that most people are so against that idea as how the game is now, attacking is pretty much a joke. No matter how top tier the defenders of gym are, anyone can easily beat at least the first couple mons which for some reason removes prestige. IMO you should have to beat every mon in the gym before removing prestige.

Yeah gym defending is pitiful. It's a shame that the "best defending movesets" are just good on paper but in reality insignificant. Deleting the dodge flash for high level trainers would be a great challenge and give life to the best defending movesets as they were intended. This would make attackers fear HB, Blizzard, and other hard hitting charge moves. I would be so excited to face against these moves and feel it's a "real" battle and a true test of skills.

Aqua Tail Vaporeon is the best kind.
