Anyone try a high level Magneton vs. Lugia?

Magneton resists near everything Lugia can toss at him (except Hydropump) so that's sorta an effective HP boost for Psychic and Dragon attacks (0.714x) and 0.51x for Flying attacks...

Probably not worth powering up, but just curious if anyone tried a random Level 30 on Lugia yet? (assuming no Hydropump)...

Yeah, I actually have a Magneton powered to L34 with Thunder Shock/Zap Cannon (wish I had kept a Discharge one from back in the day but I'm happy with this one). It's pretty hard to gauge individual performance in Lugia raids but Magneton can usually get off 2 Zap Cannons if you dodge one of the charge moves. Its HP is really terrible even at high levels so I wouldn't recommend powering it up unless you really like Magneton/have a lot of spare resources.

It does evolve into Magnezone in Gen IV so it's definitely not the worst Poke to pour dust into.

I agree. I have a TON of Magneton since Magnemite are the single most common mon in midtown Manhattan. Hard to judge in a raid, but lasted just as long as my Tyranitars did (was facing flying charge move). Of course since several people were clueless in the party we failed by a few seconds, twice. IF everyone used this site we'd have won with 20 seconds to spare. Instead I see freaking Blisseys fighting, including by a guy who had 9 Dragonites. rrrr

Great question, I have been wondering the same thing and I was just getting on here to look at its stats. It is mentioned as a counter but I wondered how high they need to be powered up. I have several candies from egg hatches and stardust at the moment.

I've evolved 6 Magnemites, all have steel charge moves.
