Anyone playing PoGo on Xiaomi phones?

Hi all and thanks for the answer in my previous post about buying a new phone.
I have set my sight on the Xiaomi brand, since their phones look very inexpensive for the features they provide.
However, I have friends who own different Xiaomi phones and some are able to play, while others get the "This device, OS or software is not compatible with Pokemon Go" message.
Are any of you using a Xiaomi phone to play the game? Were any of you unable to play, but can currently? The one that I was considering is the Redmi 4X.
Thanks!

Edit: Ended up with Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 and its performance is awesome. To everyone wondering if Xiaomi phones are compatible with Pokemon Go, what I found out is that the oldest Xiaomi phones come with custom ROMs and therefore, they don't work, giving you the message "your device or OS is not compatible with Pokemon Go". The latest (especially if bought in reliable stores) come with the GLOBAL OFFICIAL version of the MIUI, which gives no compatibility problems whatsoever.

I play on a Mi Note 3 Pro and it works better than my S5 I used previously
I think best Bang for Buck is the Note 4 pro which is regularly on gearbest for around 150€.

The people who own it and can't play don't know how to root phones, neither do I, but some of them are getting the incompatibility message. I've read something about those phones being root by default, is that possible? And if so, why some of them can play on them?

Sry not sure about Mi. In China they are not rooted. Not sure about in other countries.

I created same topic and the model I heard about the most was Redmi 4 Pro. Right now I'm googling around and also see Redmi Note 4 and Huawei Nova. It helps to search phones that have Qualcomm-Snapdragon-625 which is said to be energy-efficient.

I play on Redmi 3 Pro and my girlfriend on Redmi 4 Pro, none of us had any problems and the performance is crazy comparing to price. I say go for it.

I use Redmi 4 pro, all fine. Since redmi 3 you have to send request to manufacturer to unlock your phone. So now as of my knowledge Chinese sellers do not sell unlocked phones, it's too time consuming to such sellers.
Upd: check whether LTE bands compatible with your provider.

Dude Im playing on a xiaomi redmi note 3 and it works perfectly. As long as u don't use up too much of the phones space, the phone would never lag.

Thanks all. I finally bought Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 and the game is perfectly fine. I will edit what I found out about Xiaomi phones and compatibility with Pokemon Go in case someone else is in the same situation I've been.
