Anyone have a creative strategic use for Ditto?
OK, as a defender it is useless. Low CP, and everyone will figure out to throw Magikarp at it.
As an attacker, the only (questionable and convoluted) use I can think of is if you need a pokemon that is in the gym's lineup for a later pokemon. For example, let's suppose the gym has a Jolteon followed by a Gyrados, and you don't have a good electric type for the Gyrados. Send in Ditto against the Jolteon, switch, cream the Jolteon, and switch back to Ditto/Jolteon against the Gyarados.
The problem with that is, odds are, you have a good Jolteon lying around, and it's just simpler and easier not to go the Ditto route...

In the games, Ditto can breed with any Pokemon regardless of gender. Even genderless Pokemon like Magnemite can breed with a Ditto. And the offspring was always the non-Ditto Pokemon. Thus breeding a male Snorlax to a Ditto produced a Munchlax (baby Snorlax, not introduced yet).
Furthermore, certain IVs are sometimes transferred from each of the parents. Thus having a good IV Ditto allowed you to not only breed anything, but also guarantee only good IVs are transferred.
Save good IV Dittos if you catch one. No idea how breeding will work here, but that's the safe strategy.
