Anyone else have a low catch rate for Ho-Oh?

My catch rate for the latest legendary winged boss has been awful. Did 8 raids the other day. I got one. The worst one. I had a 2205 and 2209 fly away from me. I was consistently getting great and excellent curve throws with golden raspberries. My friend who I was with kept getting them on the first or second ball, capturing 6 out of 8.

I know it's not the most useful of the bunch, but it may change if it's moves do. Has anyone else had a low catch rate? I know it's all chance, but is there a trick people are using?

Something is weird about Ho-Oh. You're catching nothing, your friend is catching 6/8, I've caught 10/12 - and the two I didn't catch were for my daughter, when she handed me the phone with either 1 ball left (and already used a Pinap, so no possible Golden Razz) or 4 balls left.

Sure, I'm able to get a reliable Curve and Great Throw, but that's no reason I should be at essentially %100 capture rate for a Legendary. So something is definitely weird about Ho-Oh.

I'm sorry to hear that, man. :/

This is my catch rate, thus far. Not the best, but my success rate has been fairly consistent with Ho-oh. The ones I missed had terrible IVs, which I attempted to catch with Pinap berries (not an easy task with Ho-oh). I don't catch Ho-oh on the first ball, I normally catch it with around 4-5 balls left in my arsenal, and the best one I caught, 2213 CP, I somehow caught it on the last ball. I'll never get that lucky again.

As far as I'm concerned, the majority of your success is dependent on chance, but the skill of consistently landing excellent curveballs with GR berries every throw can be all the difference you need to tip the odds in your favor.

Right now I am 0/2 with Ho-oh. My legendary catch rate was 100% after the curve ball bug fix until Ho-oh came around.

Caught a 15/15/13 on 5th go so haven't bothered doing any except to make up numbers if needed 9/9 on my phone 14/14 if u include othets phones. He is very close and throw mechanics seemed to change slightly with the unity update but once you adjust he os super easy to hit for excellent throws.

I either catch it with my first ball or I don't catch it. For me it's pre-determined whether I'm gonna catch it or not. I can see pretty quickly if I have good chances or not.

If I'm going to catch it, it always shakes at least 2 times. When I don't catch it (even 10 out of 10 excellent + GR + curve), it only shakes 0 or 1 time. I've observed this pattern more often, but I'm not a illuminatie supporter, so I'm going to call it bad luck.

Current catch rate: 7/9

I caught 18 of 21, by far my best rate. Still my only good one (2209) fled of course.

I'm at 6 out of 11, which is the worst I have on any Pokemon from a lvl 5 raid.

But, I'm not that disappointed because I barely had a good throw on the first two I encountered, due to the fact that it's so different compared to the previous one.
I've only had about two attempts on Ho-oh where my throws have been consistently excellent.
And today, after not playing for a few days, when I did a raid, my aim was yet again terrible, so on eight balls, I had only one excellent, one or two great, one ball didn't even hit and the rest was just normal hits.

Its the stupid rng system...

I'm 6 out of 7. All I do is throw a straight curve (spin the ball and then throw it expecting little curve because Ho-Oh is so close), and wait for the end of a move (position switch or a lunge) when the circle is great size or smaller. Consistent catches early in the window. Last one was the one failure, and I blame it on cold hands after a previous raid and catching another one. Still, on that one, hit 9 of 10 balls, all but one of those a great or better, two excellent, so statistically I should have gotten him, just unlucky.

My ho-oh catch rate is close to 90%, much better than the other legendaries. I think the difference is most likely due to the following 2 factors: 1. I always use golden razz now, while before I always use pinaps and switch to golden razz for the last 4 or 5 balls. 2. The full circle of ho-oh is much larger than other legendaries except lugia, therefore the throw bonus is better than before even if you set the same circle size because it is related to the ratio of radius of the set circle over radius of the full circle. The smaller the ratio, the better the throw bonus

I have a very unproven theory that the game chooses one legendary to be your nemesis, and makes it harder for you to catch the bugger. Mine was Entei.

theres some truth to this. My catch rate for both electrics (zapdos and raikou) were atrocious (sub 60%). But for Moltres, Entie and Ho-oh my catch rate is 100%. I have gold badges for every type as well. I'm currently 11/11 with Ho-oh. Best ones are 2210 (15A12D15S) and 2209 (15A13D14S). All others are sub 2175.

I’m 4 for 11. Had a 2209 as my first run from me. Other CPs that stood out that ran were 2197 and today, a 2218.

Did catch a 2196 (12/15/15) the other day though.

Catch rate 18/20.
The only 100% Legendary! Powered up to L30 now!
I don’t know if that has anything to do with my being a Valor team!

6/6 on Ho-oh and 6/7 on Moltres. But Raikou I had to work for, going 4/13. RNG? Or as speculated above maybe fire is designated as easy for me. I was 5/8 on Entei and 3/8 on Zap. Perhaps electric is my nemisis.

9/12 but all of them have crap IVs. I even caught a 10/10/10 one earlier today. My best one is a 82. I haven’t even seen one in the 90s.

I caught 12 out of 14, with “curve + RZ+great throw” every time. And I managed to get a 2222 (100%) and a 2217 (98%). But for Raikou I had a extremely low catch rate...37/70. But got a 100% one, which is comforting haha.

Thanks for the all the responses. I did catch one today (2199) :D I think praying to the RNG God more may help. But I picked up something on my throwing technique today, that I think helped. My curve throws are, to put mildly, fancy and flamboyant. I seem to favour big circles when I throw. Hey it works for me :) With this fire bird I think it means I haven't been registering a curve multiplier. I have been starting in the middle of the screen, but I am essentially 'curving' straight up due to the closeness of the circle. If I start in the bottom corner from now on I think I will increase my chances. Better late than never I guess.

I’m 32 for 42 on Ho-Oh. I’ve caught all five that I’ve encountered over 2200 CP, three of them with the first ball. Just RNG being RNG.
