Is anybody else waiting for something to happen?

I'm hoarding Max Potion and Max Revive for the final battle so I have almost no place for balls left, have to go to a Pokestop to get a new ball every time I caught a Pidgey. But nothing happens..

No so extreme like you. I evolved for pokedex and some personal pleasure with non critical mons (so no Dragonite, snorlax, gya only to lvl 30, and Rhydon action in last 1-2 weeks)
But I have evolutions worth of 3 lucky eggs and 500k+ stardust. Before I never waited on a lucky egg ir important evolution.
I wait only for a possible Easter event. If no event I will go full force for pleasure of the moment.

Not me. I erased "save your candies" of my mind long ago and I'm happy about it. I've been enjoying some of the new evolutions and move sets for​ some time now and close to level up to 35 and put my best Gyarados defenders at 3100 CP

I am in a "similar" situation, also have a nice good number of attackers and defenders, collecting from 80-100 coins per day and just doing rounds of hatches each 2-3 weeks (saving since 2 weeks ago in case there is an Easter event coming).

Also saving dust, 815k at this point and a lot of candies. But I have done my gen2 pokédex entries, all of them, with a lucky egg a week ago or so, I would have waited more but I was close to level 36 and we had not any news about the hole "save your candies", so I thought I would do all new evolutions and some of the other regular stuff with a lucky egg and start saving again.

Also I won't save my candies any longer after this next week, if we don't get any Easter event I will do a mass evolve session, I have probably enough evolutions to do 4-5 lucky eggs and I won't wait another month or two for next event. Dust I will keep saving, only mon I would spend some is on my first Tyranitar or in the case I hatch a high IV Chansey or high IV and good moveset Snorlax because I only have one of each at max level. A part from that nothing else deserve the waste in my opinion with a gym rework coming in the next few months.

I've been saving all my candies and major evolves for an Easter event. If nothing good happens I'm done and will blow everything.

I have over 10 new entries for my pokedex plus a TON of powering up to do for DNite, Blissey, Tyranitar and Snorlax.... saving candies...

But I'm not waiting past Easter if nothing good happens.

I question if that "save your candies" thing meant much (doesn't that now date back to before Gen 2?) Niantic is the worst at managing it's fans expectations. They communicate so little and poorly that fans overreact to every little cryptic word that comes. Changes and events are rarely announced in advance or with very short notice when they are so few are ever really prepared. Fans fill the void with wild speculation that ultimately leads to disappointment and unfulfilled dreams. All that said, the day cash in a bunch of candy they will have a special event the next week that would have benefited more by saving. You just can't know.

There was a future interview where the guy who said "Save your candies" said it meant nothing...Just that it's good to save candies for lucky eggs/evolve sessions, etc...to gain levels faster.

It's wise to save candies till at least the end of this week in case there is a Spring/Easter event, but I'd probably continue to just continue to hoard and play the game anyways with or without events.

There is little "need" for me to just evolve to get dex entries (I'm in no rush) or more Exp since I'm too far away from my next level anyways and playing patiently is far more rewarding in case there IS double candies from eggs or double EXP...

I can theoretically do 600+ evolves, but will probably wait till I get the right mons (high IVs, etc...) and some evolves are saved for 3rd stage evolutions.

Saving 10k eggs and enough ? for 20 lucky eggs.
