any clarification on the gym disable point in the announcement

In the announcement it was mentioned that gyms will be disabled for the expected rework , now what does this entail ? For example
- no coins collection ?
- will all the pokemons be out ?
- any idea of the duration of this
Any more speculation on what to expect

I think I saw someone on this forum posting a link to a source confirming all pokemon would be retruned to the owners, I can't seem to find it though, so if someone could confirm this, that'd be nice :)

I guess that means no collection of coins aswell.

As for how long: I don't think they've said annything about that, we're not even sure when exactly they'll disable the gyms.

I can confirm the first part, all pokemons will return to their trainers. Was clarified on silph road reddit by one of niantic support accounts that is active there.

Razvan tackled the first point admirably. All pokes will be returned. The Italian post let the date of June 16 slip before retracting it. As for how long, I've seen a few sites predict July 2. You would assume at least a week or two.

I haven't seen anything else. Makes you think that the days of "holding" gyms may be over. The rework may use an entirely different concept.

  • No, no pokécoins collection as it seems
  • Yes, all pokémon will be kicked out from gyms (I hope they have at least the thought of giving them back healed...It is the least they can do if they are not gonna give something in return for the time the gyms will be disabled)
  • No idea of the duration, it seems like in the Italian announcement it was a mistake and a date was printed that should not be there (gyms are gonna be wiped on June 16th), they quickly removed it but it was too late, a lot of people read it already. But nothing about for how long.

Just my thoughts but anything more than 1 or 2 days they should give something in compensation, gym play is almost all the end game we have at this point and at least 50% of the game (catch, hatch and buddy system is the rest), so if they are gonna leave us without it for a long time they should for sure compensate their customers in some kind of way.

I really hope if the interaction will be more and we won't be able to stay in gyms that they increase the no of gyms , my nearest gym is like 3 k and deep in the blue district ,I hope they add more gyms and stops I really do

The irony is strong for real , got shaved from another gym just now , currently I am in 3 gyms only and counting down , shaving is one of the most frustrating things in this game

Will the pokémon back with full HP?

They didn't say...but twice in the past when they have made changes to CP calc, then ALL mons were revived and healed.
It would be nice if this happened again.

It would make sense, Niantic stated they would be returned to their trainers, so they should be at full health.

I'll spread the rumor that it can happen anytime and the mons sitting in the gyms will be deleted with them, to keep the players of the other teams from kicking mine out and putting their mons in >:->

Wanted to add that the June 16th date was also posted on another official Pokemon website (Chinese) so that's probably a pretty good estimate of when they'd be kicked out...

I would think no coin collection and I haven't seen any duration notices personally.

If they don't fix shaving and gym sniping (assuming that's even a thing after rework), I think the gym update would be a fail...

I can't think of a reason for them to be down long. They would have the programing/testing done in advance and then it is just a matter of pushing the update across the system. Its not like they are physical gyms that have to be reconstructed by hand. If they are down for more than a few days, I would suspect a marketing tactic to build suspense.
