Any chance the level cap is increased?

Personally I am not a fan of games that move the goal posts regularly...but Niantic have shown that this is what they call 'developing the game'.

I am not sure it will happen any time soon...but I suspect it will happen eventually.

For the record...no one pushed anyone to get to lvl40 quickly, it was their choice, so if they feel demotivated because they don't get levels anymore, then that is on them (unless they got lvl40 with pure grind and very few empty xp evolve sessions...then much respect).

Personally, I have intentionally not done many 'evolve' session for empty XP, as I intend on playing for a while yet, and I know that lvl40 will come naturally without me needing to risk my future motivation.

Increasing the level cap would be a very poor way to "increase" game quality in my opinion. Personally, I notice that most level 40 aren't driven by levels anymore, but set personal goals in the game. Only few (that includes me however) players see level 40 as a finish line.

People quit because they lack challanges in game, not necesarilly because of a so-called level cap.

The few level 40s I know are still plenty interested in the game. And speaking as one who reached level 38 just today, I'm not going to be happy at all if Niantic moves the goalpost. I would very much like to reach 40 and be among the crowd at the top, so to speak. I would find it hugely demotivating if they suddenly increased the cap to, say, 50 or 60.

I used to think lvl 40's had to be spoofers when motivated local (small town) players were in the low 30's. But we're heading there now, and I respect the few who have arrived. By the time I get there (38) it should be fairly common. BTW, as a rural player I have to do mass evolves for XP because nothing spawns near my house. But that's OK, I've accepted it.

That said, I will not lose motivation once I reach 40 (haven't noticed that in the one local 40). You still get XP, and I won't miss buying lucky eggs. I will still play for the exercise incentive, and continue to catch them all. There may be other in game activities when the time comes.

Raising the level cap might be seen as an insult by those who have reached it. Would be interesting to get their input.

I'm fairly certain that it will happen. It will be meaningless unless they change a few other things. (A level floor for wild caught of Trainer level minus 30 would be nice.)

All the 40s I know, myself included are plenny motivated still. I almost feel as if I'm picking up steam after hitting it. 40 was never the finish line for me. Other people see it and know exactly who they're dealing with. Besides, we still accumulate exp. That's enough.

I think it's great if Niantic will award L40+ 10-30 coins for every 1 Mil. XP more

I pretty much dont care anymore about grinding XP when i reach level 38 before boss raid come, as i can max my mons if i want at 38
This double XP, make me want to grind XP again, just for fun and using many candy that i have since i dont do mass evolve for quiet some time
1,8 million to go, done in 2 days (a lot of mass evolve with lucky egg)
Now, i can slow down and do my personal goals in this game at a much slower and relaxing pace...

I wish they would. My idea was 5mil or similar per level after 40.
Ive been Level 40 since
March 25 2016 and other than days off, sometimes multiple. I have yet to lose interest. I agree with whats been said. No one forced us to grind to 40. Also imo if you cant find more goals to work towards other than levels, your not a true fan of PoGo.
