Another question about pre-walking Eevees

Saw earlier Qs on this which did not answer the main point. Is Eevee similar to Feebas whereby you can walk the Mon for its minimal evolution distance (ie 10km for Espeon / Umbreon and 20km for Feebas) and later evolve it without further walking? I have evolved a couple Espeon and an Umbreon so I get the process, but if we walk and then switch to another buddy does the evolution still work? I am walking an Eevee now but there is no "distance bar" as with Feebas. Has anyone done a pre-walk successfully?? Thanks

It works, you just have to remember to set it as your buddy again before evolving

There are actually three conditions for Espeon / Umbreon walking:

1) At least 10 walked as Buddy
2) At least 2 candy found as Buddy (edited, thx for pointing it out)
3) Has to be Buddy when you do the evolution

If I remember correct, it is not necessary to go to the Eevee via the Buddy screen for the evolution, but I still do that just to be sure. Also, it helps you not to forget condition 3).

And, of course, as always Espeon / Umbreon is decided by Day / Night as shown on your phone.
