I love my Umbreon, only have one with the name change. I vote yes, just to get it out of the way. Because this is my logic. If there is a candy event in the future(shorter walking distances) you can get Chansey candy then where Eevee would still needed to be walked that 10km. Also, is that 100% fact the walking it 10km and evolving it during night/day makes it become and umbreon/espeon?
Another eeveelution question - is it worth giving up two Chansey candies for this Umbreon?
OK - I've been waiting, like forever to find a 90%+ Eevee to evolve into an Espeon. Still haven't found it.
But I did get an 82%, Level 28.
I'm thinking this won't make a good Espeon. Espeon needs high IV here to have any chance of staying in a gym.
However, it may make a good Umbreon - a nice prestiger and Espeon counter. Of course, that means I have to walk with it for 10km, and give up two Chansey candies in the process.
Is it worth it? Or should I just random evolve and see what I get?

For all we know Niantic is turning gyms upside down in the next few weeks, so I wouldn't necessarily use gym performance as a rationale for not evolving that Eevee.
FWIW, I feel like Eevee have gotten a bit scarcer in my area over the last couple of months. I haven't caught a strong one (>600 CP) in quite a while.
So you've already used Tamao? What did you get or why do you want another Umbreon?
For me the answer is No, my Blissey is too hungry for candy and I'm too cheap to trade off 2 candies for a dark prestiger, which has other options... Murkrow with double-dark moves does fine against Espeon, even if it takes 2 ... I often just transfer them after fainting and then they are totally free (except for the pain of catching high-level murkies...). Also my local nest has been Houndour for the past week, so I'm up to over 300 candies and have several candidate evos (waiting for nest rotation before evolving), so that gives me 6+ chances to get a dark Houndoom that should be solid prestiger against psychics, although I would appreciate any feedback from others about Houndoom as prestiger. Finally, I did just use a Sneasel with IS/Foul Play which did well (vs Eggs, was able to get 1000 XP).
TL;DR - there are decent alternatives to Umbreon for dark prestiging, just walk Chansey.
My Tamao evolved the same, basically unused. Still, I'd rather gamble with Houndooms, should have lots of chances for Snarl/FP (even FF/FP would be OK) especially with upcoming Fire and Ice event. Probably hit the nest again tonight for another 100 candies!
Question: if you go for another Umbreon, still don't get FP, will you keep going until you do? Could mean giving up a lot more than just 2 chansey candy...
With the gym rework officially announced, I'm not sure why anyone would try to evolve new pokemon with a purpose. We have no idea if prestiging will be the same, or if Umbreon will be better or worse.
For that matter, what if Blissey gets the nerf hammer? I don't think she will, but maybe those Chansey candies are as important as they are now. Maybe Umbreon will make more sense.
As far as walking 10k goes, I think that is pretty minimal either way. Just walk the Eevee and then switch back to Chansey. You can always walk more...Or stick with Chansey...I think the decision you need to make is the movesets on Umbreon. Is there one you really want, in case stuff changes with the update...again, it's a bunch of unknowns.
Agree that with a gym revamp CONFIRMED, even I'd say there is no need to rush for gym defenders or much of anything currently. Gym revamp sounds like next week and gyms will be disabled so it's risky to just evolve for CP now.
What I DO recommend people consider is if there is a good mon you want with good moves, you may want to do the evo now...Things like C/DP Machamp, Rt/SE Golem, DT/O Dragonite, etc...
New moves could be worst (or better), but if you don't have one yet, you may want to try to get one in case it goes legacy...
Generally, just getting 1 of all moves is ideal (non very possible for most folks), but even if you had one with bad IVs or low level, it's probably nice to have in case of move buffs, etc...
I caught a 92% IV Evee that I evolved to my first Espeon (perfect ATK/HP) Unfortunately, it got Zen Headbutt/Psybeam. The search continues…
My Umbreon is great. It has a perfect HP stat, and a 14 in DEF, which overpowers its 5 in ATK (69% IV total)
Now to your scenario. With those IVs I would go for Umbreon, but what's it's best stat? If it's attack and 14-15 I might go with Espeon. If it's defense and HP are best (14-15) I would for sure go for Umbreon. So it wouldn't necessarily be a bad Espeon, but it would be a better Umbreon.
