Ampharos

I evolved mine not much time ago and got CB/ZC, she is only 1500CP but can destroy 2 Gyarados easily if you dodge.

I am at 30 candies walking as a buddy, as soon as I get some more I will power her up.

A small note, not relevant at all now, but might be in the future if Niantic wants, Ampharos has a mega evolution, Jolteon does not, who knows, maybe this is the reason why Mareep is so rare?

I was able to tank one hp from a gary and save my second charge for the second gary and destroyed that one before he got his charge off. My go to electric mon.

I prefer Jolteon beacuse he takes a Gyarados down before HP goes off.

Never tested against Vap or Lapras tho

I will try mine for the first time today...Will report back...It should work decently I'd guess like a Lapras vs. Dragonite (usually can go through 2).

I lucked out and caught a wild Lvl 27 one with Volt Switch/Thunder...Very slow quick move, but probably good for 1 attack, 1 dodge playing.

I was no where close to evolving one and don't have a high IV candidate neither.

Machamp is probably the best Lapras counter.

The problem with Jolteon has always been the dodge bug...Dragon Tail and Hydropump will knock you out and put you in the loop.

If Gary doesn't have Hydropump, Golem is my next go to (or even if it does, it seems more tanky than Jolteon). Without the dodge bug, Jolteon can knock out 3 non-Dragon Tail Garys.

My level 32 Ampharos is pretty good at tackling Gyarados. She's tankier than Jolteon, but TS/TB Jolteon is faster. Not really sure Ampharos is worth the dust/candy past level 30. I mostly powered her up further because I had some more candy and because she is cool/rare.

Wish I could tell you. Mine (IV 96) got volt switch and focus blast. :/ Besides potential candy, I haven't figured out a use for her with those moves. Sigh.

Too rare to have a lot experience with.
Walking with him is not justified either, as he's not an elite mon.
Usefulness/Rarity ratio too low.

Used my CP 1517 Charge Beam / Zap Cannon only once yet, for prestiging against a 3050ish Gyarados. Was okay, until hit by dodge bug.

I have compared a level 24 cb/zc Ampharos vs a level 24 Jolteon with vs/tb...I hate Ampharos in that comparison. I think it comes down to charge beam...if I want a slow, clunky move, I would much rather have volt switch. Maybe vs on Ampharos is better, but the speed that Jolteon works at makes up for that little bit of bulk Ampharos does have.

Wanted to report that I got dodge bugged attacking a DT/HP Gary with Ampharos...My Amp is level 27 with VS/Thunder...

Overall, it's still not tanky enough to survive the dodge bug and it's DPS is a bit lower (30%) than Jolteon who also has a better EPS move in Thunderbolt (vs. Volt Switch) so you may be better off with Jolteon and hope you can take it out before it fires off HP as well...It just depends on RNG if it fires since sometimes, I can knock it out before it gets it off.

After someone posted here I tried RT/RS Sudowoodoo vs Gary, and was pleasantly surprised... too many times whatever Jolteon I bring gets nailed (I'll blame lag instead of my dodging skills, lol!)
