Am I making a good trade?

Ice beam lapras vs shadow claw gengar. I'm receiving the gengar. I don't know what level the gengar is but my lapras is level 20. The gengar would be lucky because I still have a few guaranteed luckies left.

I'm just doubting this trade because I never realized how much better ice beam is than blizzard. I powered up a blizzard lapras wayyy long ago, and apparently both moves have been significantly buffed, but ice beam got buffed way better. I'm happy with my 96% level 30 blizzard lapras, but I'll always wonder what could have been.

My ice beam lapras is 91% so it would be great to also power up. But, lapras candies are so hard to come by, I don't think I would ever really get the chance.

If irs a guaranteed lucky sc gengar, I'd consider making the trade. It's very good. But id recommend holding off until we see the CP rebalance to see what will happen.

well idk, i'm not sure. The guy is some guy on my discord. Don't know if he'd be willing to wait for stat rebalance. And if the rebalance favors gengar over lapras, maybe he'd change his mind? idk

Is the Lapras you trade away caught before september 2016? If so, then, yes abolutely do the trade. Otherwise you will not receive a garuanteed Lucky

Gengar is currently a glass cannon with not a lot of uses. Best use is against Mewtwo specifically with Psycho Cut/Focus Blast. Against Confusion, it dies way too fast. Against any other charge move, it doesn't have resistance to help it.

The pending stat re-balance might give Gengar more HP to make it more viable, but details are unknown. It might also nerf Lapras's high HP.

it's use will likely be agaisnt the lake trio or cresselia, but theres also a possibility of better options that could come out as a result of the rebalance

Just my opinion if you know you're gunna get a lucky genger i'd say just go for a different pokemon, but disregarding it being lucky it's a great trade. Also just ask the person the level!
